The forest stands tall and lush here; ancient trees reach weather-twisted arms to the sky, fighting monster-like storm clouds back with their interlacing fingers. Shadow seems to lurk everywhere you look, but it spills calmly, coolly, inspiring a sense of stealthy calm or protection rather than unease. That is, if you've forgotten what kind of creature might be stalking just out of sight...Abendrot is a land cradled by the dark woods on all sides; in the center, some of the larger trees stay behind to reveal a small plateau - a citadel where this pack can gather and defend itself from invaders. There are, of course, softer sides to the land. Clearings here and there allow the sun to throw down its rays in incongruously resplendent gold showers. Ignore the lingering scents of blood spattered here and there along the borders: those do not concern you. The river on one edge of the territory is playful enough when it hasn't been gorged by violent rain. You can choose to note the ragged claw marks raked down tree trunks and the forest floor as friendly "Home Sweet Home" signs, if you wish.

All who treasure loyalty, order, victory, and the occasional indulgence of raw visceral pleasure are welcome, once they've been approved by the ever-watchful eyes of Abendrot's Alpha. But keep one thing in mind: no matter what your motive, this is not a fool's Paradise. This is the land of soldiers, assassins, and spies. This is ABENDROT.

Make up your mind quickly and prepare to prove your worth. You wouldn't want to add to those blood spatters, would you...?

Halina had left the final blow for the pup to take to ensure that he fully understood what it meant to be a varg. They were predators, carnivores... And as such it was necessary for them to take life in order to sustain their own. Life begets life, but only, in their case, by changing another's status to death. It was different to take the life of small prey. Fish were simple minded and were more robotic than anything else... Hares were frightened most of the time... But the large difference was their mentality. Large prey - deer, moose, elks - lived in family units and would stick together whenever possible, making them the Lera that were most similar to the Putnar. With the smaller prey, it was easy to miss the moment they died, for with one bite they were dead. But with the larger ones, you had to fight for the right to feed upon their flesh. It took not just one bite, but many. Injuries were dealt from both parties, and it forced wolves to think seriously before going after prey willy nilly. Only the strong, only the many, could take them down. It forced the track of evolution - only the strong survive.

But Lupin did not hesitate once. He came to the fawn and after thinking about it, digesting the information that Halina gave to him, glitches the fawn's nape in his maw and shut his teeth in order to pierce her flesh and drain her lifeblood. Nodding her approval, she stepped over the carcass, claiming it as her own. A low growl shifted out from her maw, a warning in case the pup tried to feast before it was his time. But the pup dutifully retreated, allowing her to eat first as was only right. Halina took her favorite cuts as her own - the loins - and ate until she was full. She had eaten just the day before and thus was not overly hungry, but she filled her stomach I its entirety. Only then did she back up and gesture for him to eat as well. And eat he did. A ravenous appetite drove him into the carcass quickly until his sunken sides had filled out from the full meal.

Soon after he grabbed it and began to drag it back to the pack, trailing Halina. She kept her pace slow enough for him to keep up with her, and took over dragging it should he ever collapse from exhaustion. Once they finally breached Abendrot's borders, Halina took her teeth to the carcass and tore at the flesh until one of the front limbs was free. Though not much meet was left, she wanted to have at least one small meal for her and Ygritte, and thus took the shoulders for herself and dragged it back to her den. "Wait here." She had commanded Lupin to remain still... But returned to him quickly and tilted her head back and called to the pack. This hunt had been a success, and though it would not feed supply them with a full meal, it would be a decent snack for each of them.
