Ruieze Fields

Open fields and soft grass...
Ruieze stretches far in the midlands of Moladion, laced with streams that feed into Diveen and out of Asteraia at times. The fields are vast, filled with wildflowers and tall, soft grass; trees are sparse, as are rocks, but one can find small shrubs to hide amongst, and the grass itself. To the south of the fields, a Ruieze River widens, and the ground becomes sandy. There is a small, grassy island that can be reached from the banks, with water-birds often congregating on the island rather than the riverbanks.

For a moment, she had considered that there was more to his warmth than just biology; it felt as if his very soul had found a way to become warm, like the very essence of the sun or the summer had been poured into him. In all her life, she could have sworn she had never experienced such comfort and such security. In a moment, she had suddenly felt a wave of dread with the sudden realization that, eventually, she would need to be elsewhere. She could not live her life wrapped in the warmth of his soul and fur and yet, she suddenly desired to do so. It made her brows furrow for a moment, her ear flicker and yet, she allowed herself to remain in that quiet bliss as his head found refuge atop her shoulder.

When he moved to meet her eyes, she watched his back intensely; curiosity, however, filled them. She watched his face as he remained silent, seemingly lost in his own river of thought as she began to silence the outside world. All she wanted to hear was the sound of his heart and her own echoing off the dark walls of their confines. It kept her peaceful. It kept her grounded.

When he spoke, her eyes locked onto his; her ears pushed forward as she considered his words. Then, her eyes narrowed in contemplation, his own thoughts mirroring hers in some way. She had felt parts of him from afar too or, perhaps, she had felt parts of herself mirroring him at least. She had become a clear lake it seemed, able to move and yet happy to reflect the best parts of the sky above. It made her breath stifle for a moment before she sighed, her head slowly nodding to affirm his words. "I'm... glad you found you," she finally uttered, though she moved to face away as soon as the words had dared to pass her lips. She had no reason to feel embarassed over such words and yet, she had done so instantly. Perhaps she had begun to mirror back his own uncertainty, their closeness not quite enough to bridge the space between their souls just yet. Yet, she felt as if she wanted to. It felt right to do so - freeing, perhaps.

Though she had become somewhat content, she had a sudden wave of an undiscernible emotion - a difficult one to place. It made her squirm for a moment in an effort to regain her comfort, her brows furrowed once more before she swung back to face Tithe, curious as to whether he had felt it too - he had, of course. In fact, she had witnessed his own shift of body, an indicator that - once more - she had served as a mirror. It made her huff beneath her breath, cut off the moment his words crept out into their makeshift den once more. This time, she could not make eye contact. Instead, she nuzzled into the warmth once more, nosing the rabbit back towards him.

"Yet," she begun after a moment, her eyes rising once more to meet his own with a look of subtle confusion, "now you have no leader, no queen - you create the secrets of your home now. You are king of the mountains." It sounded odd to say such a thing, and it showed on her face as she grinned in amusement at the idea of it all. He had become king. She had never sought individuals with power and yet, it seemed it had been preordained; why else had he been so magnetic during their first meeting? He had something special in him. "But those are still secrets I desire to know," she begun once more with a stout nod, her head tilted now as she held his gaze, "and I am prepared to do as needed, or wanted, in order to learn them. I am prepared to give you my own secrets, I think." She had not understood his direction perhaps and yet, she had done her best to make sense of it all. She desired closeness now that she had it and she had to be prepared to do what was required in order to achieve it. It felt strange though, to finally really want something tangible. All the knowledge in the world - all the theories - had nothing on the endless mystery that had become their connection.
