In the beginning of running the pack she was not a social creature. It did not come naturally for her to approach those that lived within in the fields. She left her members alone. She allowed them to do as they pleased. As long as they understood that she and Tobias were the Alphas of Asteraia, then there was nothing else that needed to be taught. Overtime the Monster had started to attach herself to her members, finding herself slowly starting to care for them, finding their presence accepting. It wasn’t until Jaidah came when Tobias protected their hold did her mind slowly begin to develop into that ‘Alpha sense,’ the need to protect not just him, but the other wolves that called the grasslands their home. Each member had a strength, a strength they could hone and use for the betterment of the pack – and she was delighted to help them any way she could. Her pack would not be weak, she would not tolerate such a thing, they would be strong and successful...and she would make damn sure they would be. All of them.
It was the hoarse bark that caught her attention as she walked. Turning her dial around she saw the familiar figure of Starshade coming. She had not seen the girl for some time now, but catching her scent within the fields assured her that the quiet creature was all right. She would not approach Starshade and demand her presence be more seen. If Starshade wished to be alone then she could be, Tick Tock would not change her ways that change would have to come from Starshade. Slowing her pace slightly for Starshade, to catch up, her ears would twitch back and forth at attention. While the girl lowered her head the Monster’s tail would wave slightly, a friendly gesture, a sign that her presence before her was accepted. Sapphire eyes, flecked with violet, looked upon the girl as she continued their walk responding to her question.
“My stash is all right, but it could always use more. All that you listed will be fine, but Starshade we must speak of something else.”
At this point she would stop walking and move to face the girl. The Monster knew that things would be changing once more this season. Winter brings Death. Spring brings Life. She knew far too well that Eric was aging and that he would be lucky to survive this Winter. This past Spring he had lost his two daughters and his mate was long gone, how much would Eric have to endure further with his losses. He was a good wolf, a strong hunter, and he did not allow his old age to hinder him. He was good. He was strong. Although these things would not save him from his impending Death. She would do what she could for him until his time was up. Though for now she needed to think about the safety and well-being of her pack and prepare them for what shall happen. Her cold voice held a stern tone at the gravity of the situation.
“You and I both know that Eric’s time is slowly coming to an end. The pack will need a new Fenris, one that will be in charge of the hunt. I need someone to replace him one day, someone that is a strong hunter, one that is capable of leading an assortment of wolves on a victorious hunt and one that can teach others how to hunt. I was wondering if you wanted to be our new lead hunter after Eric dies.”
