Enocra Woodland

Pine, spruce and firs alike...
Dense coniferous forests cover the woodlands, with clearings, paths and the occasional wildberry shrub throughout. Pine, spruce and fir make up much of the forest in the east, with the forest becoming swampier in the west towards Mecor Valley. In the west, cypress trees dominate, with fallen trees creating bridges across and throughout the stillwaters.

Her curiosity was apparently taken for blatant stupidity. Was that the only impression she gave of herself? To the wolves in the valley, she’d been a victim. To the wolf in the woods, she'd been a fool. Now here, she was getting the impression that she was both a nuisance and an idiot. Dragonfly shrank under neither the accusatory stare and her ears flopped to the side in disappointment as she looked away. The words weren’t harsh, but the message was clear; it’s dangerous, don’t go there. Dragonfly supposed she should try and see what the female was actually looking out for. Her survival.

It was admirable, but Dragonfly was not delighted by the prospect. She knew how to survive. She was well fed and healthy, what she wanted was to be alive. But the only occasions she’d had thus far to be happy were her date with Jackdaw and playing with Frito. Everything else was tinged with an uncanny sort of darkness she didn’t understand. Maybe it was because survival came harsher to others. She was not ignorant of the hardships of worrying about getting a meal to survive the following day, but it was growing wearisome to be surrounded by those so occupied with survival that they forgot wolves were social creatures. Interaction, especially pleasant ones, were essential for the good will of the soul. At least, that’s what Dragonfly had been taught.

Looking back to the white wolf staring at her, it was clear that they didn’t share this value. Dragonfly had been trying to deny her gut feeling about the female, but in everything she said and in her body language pointed it out clear as day. She wasn’t going to hurt Dragonfly, but she certainly didn’t want much else to do with her - as shone in her monotonous delivery of her dismal experience of the desert.

Dragonfly shook her fur and responded as she stood, “I’m sorry to hear that your experiences were so grave… I hope you have better ones in the future. Until next, time, Amber?”

Dragonfly strode a few paces away and tilted her head slightly with her question and waited for a reply. Although Dragonfly was certain the female viewed her as pesky, the young wolf had at least found a wolf willing to talk with her some. Hopefully, Dragonfly would stumble upon her path again… maybe in summer when wolves weren’t so preoccupied with the misery of winter.
