aurora borealis- noun plural: An aurora that occurs in northern regions of the earth. Also called northern lights.

In the middle of a dense forest of coniferous trees lies the Aurora Borealis pack, its name coming from its location. At certain times of the year, the northern lights appear, dancing almost magically in the sky. A narrow trail leads you through the close evergreens. Giving into temptation, you begin moving your paws. By venturing into this territory, you are venturing into a land belonging to a pair of feared leaders. You have heard rumors of them...but you decide to take your chances and hope that the tales of blood and death are merely fabricated stories to scare wolves.

You have walked nearly five minutes before you realize the sound of paws stepping somewhere from behind. Deciding that you've made a mistake, you quickly turn around, but find that you cannot go any further. Standing before you is one of the mighty kings you've heard of. His blood red pelt clings over perfectly toned bands of muscle. But that isn't what causes such fear in your veins. One of his amber eyes has a horrid, bleeding scar across it, and his good eye seems to stare right through you. His face is expressionless, giving off none of his intentions. You cower away as his jaws part.

"I'm Hell Demon."

His voice was deep and cut through the air like a hot knife through butter. Right where he left off, another voice picks up from behind you. You whirl around and find yourself facing another male with steely muscles beneath his pelt, which seems to consist of every shade of brown. He had startled you, and you're amazed how you hadn't at all detected his approach.

"And I am Ghost...we're the alphas of Aurora Borealis."

His deep voice was laced thickly with a Native American accent. His own golden eyes are directing a harsh glare your way. Now you're caught in the middle...your breathing has become heavy in your panic and you're not sure which to face.

"You've foolishly trespassed into our territory. You face the one called Hell Demon's whose voice is once more addressing you. Get out, or become a corpse along our border."

It's obvious they mean business. So now it's up to you...take your chances and stay, or heed their warning and waste no time getting out with your life.

You May Be a Coward, but You’re Not Stupidwolf

The pup wondered if it was weird that his newest friend was so much older than him, or if this was normal. Magic was his friend of course, but she was also his mother, so it was different. Bu the only other varg that he had interacted with was Sebring, and he thought that she was his friend. But she was an adult, so much older than he was. What if she thought it was silly that they were friends? Surely she had other friends that were closer to her age that she could enjoy her time with. What if she suddenly realized this and just left him out here on his own to go and find other beings that she would rather be with. That thought scared him. He still didn’t know where he was, still didn’t know how to get back to his den and the safety that came with being around Magic. The young pup shook his black striped head, trying to get that thought out of his mind. Sebring was nice. Even if she decided that she was tired of his company, she would at least bring him back home, right? She couldn’t just leave him here by himself.

Despite his doubts, Tarly felt comfortable around Sebring, felt that he was safe when he was with her. The only other varg that gave him the feelings of security was Magic. And so, as long as Sebring was nearby it was not as scary to walk through the trees and the shadows, even when he didn’t know where he was. He still flinched if there was a particularly loud noise that he didn’t recognize, but he was no longer flinching away from every crack of a branch of crunch of a leaf. Maybe he could get used to living here if the other wolves were like Sebring. They had to be like their alphess right? She wouldn’t let mean and scary wolves live here, would she? A soft whine escaped him at the thought, and he hoped that the female didn’t hear him. It was the trust in Sebring that kept him going as he followed her instructions to squeeze through some brambles and keep going with their exploration of the pack. He didn’t think that he would be able to do it without her being there. As the continued, Tarly actually spoke up, asking the alphess about why she liked Aurora Borealis. He was a bit flustered when she asked what he liked about the pack. He still wasn’t sure if he liked this pack or not. He missed Shae and his sisters. He knew that he would see them again, but it was still weird to him not being with his sisters every day. But having Magic in his life had helped ease the pain of losing them temporarily.

The young brute stumbled out an answer, unsure of what he should say. He didn’t want to upset her by saying that he still thought about his old home and family, so he left that part out. He felt better when he saw Sebring smile at him and he was glad that he had not upset her with his lack of an answer. “There’s nothing wrong with that. You’ve got your whole life ahead of you to get to know other wolves and discover the world. Just take it one step at a time, we’ll all get where we going eventually.” He liked her answer, but did she mean that he would spend his life here? Would he ever go back with his family or would he be forced to stay away from his sisters forever? Shae had said it was only for a little while, that it was a game they were playing and they would all be together again soon. But what was soon? The thought of being without his sisters was scary but he had to trust that Shae was not lying and that he would see them again. His grey orbs glanced at Sebring as he nodded, remaining quiet again.

The pair had come to Aurora’s access to the lake, and he took a moment to lap at the cool water. He didn’t realize how much walking they had done and how tired and thirst he was until he started drinking. When he lifted his head, he let out a yawn. This had been one of the busiest days that he had been through. Sebring’s vocals caught his attention again. “I think this would be a good spot to end the evening, wouldn’t you Tarly? Care to watch the sunset with me? I can take you back home, to Magic, afterwards.” His grey orbs looked to the sky and realized how late it was. He hadn’t meant to be gone this long, but he had been distracted with his time being happily occupied by Sebring. The femme had walked away from the water and was sitting down near the trees. The pup let out another yawn, his paws and limbs feeling heavier than they had before. ”That would be nice.” Tarly padded over to her, sitting close by. His lids began to get heavier, and after a few minutes he inched closer to Sebring, and as long as she didn’t protest, he curled up next to her, falling asleep as the sunset for the night to come.
