Enocra Woodland

Pine, spruce and firs alike...
Dense coniferous forests cover the woodlands, with clearings, paths and the occasional wildberry shrub throughout. Pine, spruce and fir make up much of the forest in the east, with the forest becoming swampier in the west towards Mecor Valley. In the west, cypress trees dominate, with fallen trees creating bridges across and throughout the stillwaters.

got a hole in my soul,
growing deeper and deeper,
She hadn't a clue what had come over her and yet, she moved with it: as Matthias charged forward into the fray of claw and tawny fur, she too lunged forward with an eager snap of her jaws. Perhaps she had ripped out a clump or two of fur and yet, she hadn't the time to revel in any imagined victory as the cat clawed Matthias off itself. The new scent of blood was barely a comfort; it made her hackles twitch and her eyes widen in surprise. Had she really thought he could have stopped the cougar so easily? She had to marvel in its savagery - that was, if she had been given the time to do so. No sooner had he been pushed away had the cougar turned back to her; she flashed her teeth but it did little more than perhaps encourage the cat. Perhaps she had done a poor job at feigning more experience.

What mattered was that Matthias had been quick to shove her along, an odd combination of a yip and a growl emitted as she gathered herself. Then, he had ordered her and for once, she had no hesitation in taking an order. Instead, she issued a swift nod before she backed away a short step or two and pivoted. "You run too, old man!" She couldn't act like she didn't want him to survive it, after all. Sure, it might have been interesting to see just what a cougar could do but he had saved her from being the one under tooth and claw. The least she could do was hope the same could be done for him.

With that, she had surged forward on quick, nimble steps despite the persistent ache in her limb. She could feel the rendered flesh prickle with the sudden movement, the underbrush of the forest slapping against the wounds as she weaved beneath and between fallen trees and boulders. She paused after a minute of running, now beneath a tangle of roots and dirt - at least, she supposed, the cougar would get bored of waiting if it did find her - and she listened closely to the forest. She waited for a howl - or hiss - of pain and yet, she found herself hoping the most for the latter. Now that she had time to gather her thoughts, she had contemplated running in an arc to blind side the cat. Of course, with a huff as her chest pounded, she decided against it. After all, hadn't he stayed so that she could get away?

Minutes passed again. Now, her heart had begun to steadily beat once more. She sighed, long and exasperated, as she collapsed onto her belly; she lapped at the blood on her leg, investigating the wound thoroughly. Then, she lifted her muzzle and let out a low howl, an inquisitive one that beckoned her savior forward. Savior seemed like an unusual thing to call him - it made her smirk - and yet, she imagined he had some stern words for her. She wouldn't have minded to hear them. Oh, and she figured she ought to tend to his wounds the best that she could. At least, she'd be able to track him down a healer or two for his efforts, no?
