CHARITABLE ADVERTISING on Web Site There are many worthwhile charitable causes in existence, but we can only accept sponsorship or fundraising efforts on Fusilier Association websites, that specifically support approved Fusilier charities. This essentially means that it is acceptable to use these pages to seek sponsorship for The Fusiliers Aid Society (which includes Fallen Fusiliers), and The Fusilier Memorial fund only. We now have our own dedicated justgiving site (http://www.justgiving.com/fusiliersaidsociety), which you can use to help raise money for your cause. If you let RHQ (Asst Regt Sec) know the specific cause you are raising money for, it will be directed to the correct fund. Messages soliciting sponsorship for causes or charities other than the Fusilier ones mentioned above should not be placed on the message board and may be removed by the Webmaster.

PRESENTATION OF NEW COLOURS TO FIRST FUSILIERS.

The Colonel of the Regiment, Major General PAE Nanson CBE congratulates the Commanding Officer and all ranks of the First Battalion The Royal Regiment of Fusiliers for an outstanding parade at the presentation of new Colours on St George’s Day 2016 at Tidworth. The Colonel stated that in his current role as Commandant RMAS he witnesses a lot of parades and drill but the standard of drill and produced by the members of the First Battalion on parade was second to none.

The Colonel further expressed his gratitude for the huge amount of support from the Regimental family who witnessed the Presentation of new Colours by the Colonel-in-Chief, Field Marshal His Royal Highness The Duke of Kent KG.

Many of you who attended may have had difficulty hearing the address given by the Colonel-in-Chief due to the sound system and the elements. For those who wish to know what was said I have printed his address below.

HRH The Duke of Kent Address to the First Battalion the Royal Regiment of Fusiliers on the Occasion of the Presentation of New Colours at Tidworth 23rd April 2016.

“Lieutenant Colonel Butterfill and members of the First Battalion, the Royal Regiment of Fusiliers.

It is a very great honour for me to be able to present new Colours to you today on behalf of Her Majesty the Queen. I want first to congratulate you on your splendid turnout and bearing on parade.

Since I last presented Colours to this Battalion on St George’s Day 1993, the Regiment has served with distinction on exercises and operations around the world, most recently in the Balkans, Northern Ireland, Iraq and Afghanistan. I note the addition of a new battle honour, ‘Iraq, 2003, 4 and 6’ to your Regimental Colour.

As your Colonel-in-Chief, I am pleased to know that the Royal Regiment of Fusiliers continues to uphold its traditions of loyal service and duty, while also meeting the challenges of a world and an Army in the process of changing. I acknowledge with gratitude the commitment of your Officers, Warrant Officers, Non-Commissioned Officers and Fusiliers and their families to the defence of the Realm.

I now entrust these new Colours, which chronicle so much of the Regiment’s history, to your safekeeping, confident that they will continue to inspire our soldiers to maintain the highest standards of the Royal Regiment of Fusiliers”.

Colonel (Retd) J W Denny MBE

Regimental Secretary
