aurora borealis- noun plural: An aurora that occurs in northern regions of the earth. Also called northern lights.

In the middle of a dense forest of coniferous trees lies the Aurora Borealis pack, its name coming from its location. At certain times of the year, the northern lights appear, dancing almost magically in the sky. A narrow trail leads you through the close evergreens. Giving into temptation, you begin moving your paws. By venturing into this territory, you are venturing into a land belonging to a pair of feared leaders. You have heard rumors of them...but you decide to take your chances and hope that the tales of blood and death are merely fabricated stories to scare wolves.

You have walked nearly five minutes before you realize the sound of paws stepping somewhere from behind. Deciding that you've made a mistake, you quickly turn around, but find that you cannot go any further. Standing before you is one of the mighty kings you've heard of. His blood red pelt clings over perfectly toned bands of muscle. But that isn't what causes such fear in your veins. One of his amber eyes has a horrid, bleeding scar across it, and his good eye seems to stare right through you. His face is expressionless, giving off none of his intentions. You cower away as his jaws part.

"I'm Hell Demon."

His voice was deep and cut through the air like a hot knife through butter. Right where he left off, another voice picks up from behind you. You whirl around and find yourself facing another male with steely muscles beneath his pelt, which seems to consist of every shade of brown. He had startled you, and you're amazed how you hadn't at all detected his approach.

"And I am Ghost...we're the alphas of Aurora Borealis."

His deep voice was laced thickly with a Native American accent. His own golden eyes are directing a harsh glare your way. Now you're caught in the middle...your breathing has become heavy in your panic and you're not sure which to face.

"You've foolishly trespassed into our territory. You face the one called Hell Demon's whose voice is once more addressing you. Get out, or become a corpse along our border."

It's obvious they mean business. So now it's up to you...take your chances and stay, or heed their warning and waste no time getting out with your life.

wolf

Something that Chenzii had always been proud of was her positon in Aurora Borealis. Since she had joined the pack many years ago, she knew that this would be her forever home and she could not imagine having it any other way. She had made a vow to herself to always be loyal to Kalgalath, and now Sebring, and to the pack as whole. No matter what would happen here, she would not abandon the pack. This was her home, her family, and she wanted to be her best for it and for those within. Everyone had their bad days, but the female had made sure to do her best to keep her emotions in check and to do what was best for the others, and not herself. When her mate had left her, she thought about leaving and starting a new life again, as she had done when her parents had died. But she knew deep down that she could not do that. She had made a good life in Aurora, and was at that point a ranked wolf. She would not abandon her position and her pack.

But losing a daughter had been different. She still did not know what had become of her old mate, but there was a chance that he was still alive at least. But not with Vita. With her daughter she would never be able to come back. Her life had been taken away, far too young, and nothing could ever bring her back. Losing her son, Mortem had made it even harder, but she got some comfort in knowing that he was still alive. The young brute was very different from his sister, preferring to be on his own in his solitude rather than in the hustle and bustle of pack life like Vita had enjoyed. Chenzii knew that the brute could survive well on his own and be relatively happy, if he was able to overcome the grief of losing his sister. But the female was not coping well with the loss. She needed to do something to get over this, or else she would go mad.

And that was what had made her seek out Kalgalath. What she had foolishly not done though was to get her emotions in check first. Normally she would not go out in such a state, but she was not in the right mind and that can make vagrs do foolish things. Embarrassment swam over the female, wishing she could go back and prevent this moment. Here she was, Kalgalath’s trusted Beta, and she was making a fool of herself and thus him and the pack. He was a kind varg though, and did not seem upset or angry with her, but still gave her a weird look, as if he knew that this was unlike her. Well he did know that. There were not many lupines that knew her as well as Kal did, Magic being the only other one that she could call as close a friend as she was to the alpha. The female quickly backpedaled away into the male that she had thrust herself into, awkward embarrassment all over her face. She quickly stumbled out an apology before turning her yellow orbs to the stranger and quickly introduced herself. The unknown brute didn’t seem to be upset or bothered by her rude and hasty introduction as he too introduced himself to her. “Gwaine. A Pleasure to meet you, Chenzii. No need to apologize. You came for Kal, you couldn’t have known I was here. Simply put, I haven’t been doing much at all. Just wandering really. I came back because…. I suppose I just need to be part of a pack where I can contribute.” Kal’s words caught her attention before she could respond Gwaine, and she focused in on him, trying t ground herself. “Well, my friend, I am glad indeed that your wandering has brought you back here, and that it is here you chose to call home. Chenzii, Gwaine, if you both would forgive me, I desire to get back to Sebring. If she wakes and I am not there, I fear she will worry. But Chenzii – could you please show Gwaine around the pack, perhaps help him find a place to make his den… or show him the empty ones in the mountainside? I would appreciate it very much. I do thank you… and I am sure I will see both of you around soon. And Gwaine – come to Magic’s training session. I think you will like it.” The midnight colored female nodded her head, ”Yes, of course Kalgalath.”

As the alpha left to go be with his family, Chenzii shook out her pelt, trying to clear her head. Luckily she had not let herself get to the point before where she looked skeletal and near death. She was skinnier than normal, not quite as healthy looking, but overall she still looked like herself. Her dark black pelt had not begun to fall out as it had done in her depression in the past, her yellow orbs still had life to them and were not dull and listless. She cleared her throat, feeling more like herself now that she had a task to do that she could focus on. ”So, Gwaine, it seems that you have called Aurora your home before? I have been here a few years but do not believe we have met before?” She was in no means judgmental that he may not have been around lately, she was just curious what his situation was. ”So would you like a tour and to pick a place for your den? Or head over to the mountainside where some are already made?” The femme was not sure what he would prefer and wanted to let him chose, he would be the one living there afterall.

"We were never meant to last," She whispers.
