Everything had gone as expected thus far, with the unexpecting bear being pummeled by the wasp nest… but then everything went horribly wrong. The bear had apparently caught sight of Rodan and charged him, swiping at him. Nimueh barked out a warning but that only proved to backfire on her… for the she-bear changed direction and instead turned to come after her instead. Though she tried to jump away, the wolf caught her shoulder and tore out pieces of her musculature, blood spraying from torn arteries. A growl pulled itself from her chest but that turned into an oomph as the brute she had been paired with pushed into injured shoulder. She whimpered in protest but saw his reasoning quickly – he had seen the bear’s next attack and had pushed her out of the way, thus the bear’s teeth barely grazed the top of her scruff. Nimueh’s tumbling form rolled out of the way and she grimaced as dirt ground itself into her wounds. She stumbled to her feet and jumped away a few steps, lifting her injured limb to protect it. Her bare pools kept site on the ursidae, and was thankful for the peppermint plant that thus far had protected both her and Dakota… but how long would the herb be protective for? But then the bear roared out, supposedly calling for its mate, and Nimueh gritted her teeth – if they had a chance of chasing the bear out, it would have to be done before the mate showed up…
Suddenly another scream entered the sound of the night, but this one was from no bear. The queen that they were all fighting for emerged from the treeline herself and plunged into battle among side her pawns and knights, pearls aching to tear the flesh from the bear…. But then her body swiveled onto her back and she ended up on the underside of the bear. Whether she was able to land a blow or not, Nimueh couldn’t tell, but with her back claws she tore at the earth, loosening it, before backing up and swiping it toward the bear’s face, hoping that the dirt would disorient the bear by blinding it. When at last her gaze rose, she saw Dante fleeing but she could not tell whether she had been hit. But then another wolf was into the fray – Dakota was attacking the bear’s front limb, hoping no doubt to injure the muscles and pull at the fat there to cause pain. Dakota had not wanted to injure the bear from the very beginning, and he was no doubt hoping to injure the bear just enough to force her to give up and leave. Whether or not he hit, Dakota then rushed backward. Nimueh quickly looked around, trying to ignore the pain in her shoulder. Because of her condition, she was not strong and was nearly useless in an actual fight… but her mind was sharp. Hopefully she had been able to blind the bear with her first attack… if only she could not make it seem as if there was more forces than were actually there. Bears already did not have the best of sight, and if this one was temporarily blinded, she could perhaps convince her that reinforcements were on the way. Nimueh cantered toward the edge of the forest as quickly as she could and started to rustle the shrubs, hoping that she could fool the bear. Even as she moved, Rodan sought to injure another of the bear’s legs.
