Aena

would things be easier if there was a right way?

NAME: aena (ayy-nah)
AGE: 0
GENDER: female
EYE COLOR: this color with very small flecks of color. Her right eye also has a rose gold streak (like the ring band) that reaches from the inner corner of her eye to her pupil.

APPEARANCE –
HEIGHT: 25 inches tall at the shoulder
WEIGHT: around 110 pounds
BUILD: she is small and deceptively stocky under her thin fur. She is neither exceptionally fast nor exceptionally strong, but her ancestors have always been perfectly satisfied with the rabbits that their build is perfectly suited to hunt.
COLORATION: her fur is tawny with undersides that fade to cream. Her topside has some mottled darker tawny coloring (think faded brindling), and she has some white around her nose and at the very tip of her tail. There’s a crooked, forearm-sized white marking on her chest that’s all but hidden by her otherwise pale coloration, as is the white on all of her feet.
FUR TYPE: very short length, incredibly soft and silky with an almost non-existent undercoat. This causes her to look deceptively slender than she truly is and also makes it difficult to stay warm in extreme cold. The fur on her haunches and tail is longer than on the rest of her body.

PERSONALITY: I’m not entirely sure yet. It’ll develop as she grows (;
IMPRINTABILITY: can be imprinted on

OOC: bee

CHATANGO: thehoneybee
SAMPLE: see below
HAVE YOU READ THE RULES: I have!
WHAT IS OUR REQUIRED WORD MINIMUM: 200 words per post
HOW DID YOU FIND US: cruising various advertising boards. I couldn’t tell you exactly which one for sure.

Sample post:

Three little wolf pups grew fat and round in the central hollow of a tunnel that the mother and father had taken turns to excavate. The boldest among them had stood at the mouth of the den just yesterday, and reported back his findings to his sisters. The world is huge! There are more colors than grey and black and brown!

Today, she will look at the world for herself.

Rising at dawn, she clambers across the prone bodies of her mother and siblings, making her way up the narrow tunnel. The further she goes, the more the familiar scent of the den is diluted with novel odors, and the familiar blackness of the den lightens to grey.

The late spring wind ruffles between her ears, and she raises a Dudley nose to it, inhaling. She has no names for these smells, at least not yet. One is more alluring than the rest, and she narrows her still-blue eyes until she finds the source. There – a reddish-brown lump. She’s found it.

With an excited yip, the four-week old pup bursts from the mouth of the dun. She races forward…and falls… and is up again! The deer carcass is only a few meters from the mouth of the den, and her father watches bemusedly as the little pup pokes at it with her muzzle and feet. The hind legs, haunches, and organs have already been consumed, leaving a rather cave-like ribcage that is perfectly pup-sized. She walks right in – of course she does – and begins to roll. This is a good-to-eat thing, but she’s not entirely sure how to make it into the partially digested good-to-eat thing that her parents give her and her siblings, so she settles for laying down and licking repeatedly at a single rib.

Eventually she falls asleep – exploration is difficult.

She wakes up to the sound of furious snarling and to the jolt of a moving carcass.

Her mother is standing at the mouth of the den, growling protectively, while her father dances about the massive grizzly with her paw on the deer’s head. The bear jerks her paw back, pulling the carcass (and the pup inside it) closer to her. The bear is hungry, with cubs of her own to feed, and the draw of a fresh kill was enough to make her confront a pair of denned wolves. The grizzly is uninterested in fighting with the wolves (she only wants the deer) and she grabs the deer’s neck to pull it away.

The wolves are unhappy, but it seems they have miscounted their pups, and they do not put up a strong fight. The grizzly drags the meal away, and with it comes the little wolf pup, cowering as far into the ribcage as she can squeeze.

The happy grumblings of little bears come all too soon, but it seems they are interested in playing with each other and greeting their mother more than immediate feasting, and the pup takes her chances, and bolts as soon as she can.

She is miles from her family, and the direction she runs is the opposite of the direction that her den is in. She knows that she needs to run from the bears, and from danger, but everything looks dangerous to a pup her size. Eventually she can run no more, and she finds an abandoned rabbit nest half-hidden beneath a fallen log. It is not her den, but it is soft and almost dark, and there she curls up, presses her nose to her tail, and falls asleep.
