Yes, your kitty boy sounds like he may be a really big guy. Commercial cat trees are horrible in price, I agree. Of the two you described, I would suggest going for the lower priced one, as White Foot will not know the difference! Here is a thought: At one time, before there were commercial cat trees, someone gave me the bright idea to make one. I cut a small dead tree down from the woods and stuck it in a washtub of wet cement. Well, the wash tub was a mistake, because when the cement hardened, nobody could lift it! But a wiser plan might have been to put the wet cement in a bucket and hang some toyws on the dead tree. Our cats loved it. At present we have a piece of dead log with the bark on it, and they love to scratch on that -- as well as the couch, of course. Hope some of this works for you.
