Aplos Riverside

Moladion’s powerful, winding river...
Aplos River is a broad, slow-moving river originating from somewhere beneath the mountains of Spirane and feeding Iromar’s moors in the south. The northern parts of the river are known for their strong currents, with the water becoming slow moving in the south. The riverbanks vary along its course, ranging from soft hummock grasses to small groups of pine, and sometimes nothing but pebbles and sand. Crossing can be difficult at times, but it can be swam or bridged by fallen trees or boulders alike.

"Dance, my little puppets,
set your soul free.
Dance, my little puppets,
dance just for me."
- verse iii, sandy nobody
Pine’s snarling and snapping teeth caused Grimoire’s tail to wave faster as she pranced in place on her paws. Little calico-wolf here was a dangerous little poppet. It drove Grimoire’s insides wild with adoration. Alright, she’d admit it. She was absolutely taken. Once her student was older, they were going to have a fun time hunting. Maybe she’d even graduate to the advanced class where wolves and gators were on the menu. Grimoire wriggled into a sitting position as she watched Pine drag the unwilling rabbit from its den. Stupid rodent: it had picked the wrong hole to hide in.

Then, her temporary student presented the meal proudly. Grimoire grinned at her and nodded in agreement to her self-recognition of a task accomplished. She praised,

”Certainly, he would be. And so am I. Let us eat, and then I shall take you on group hunt.”

Grimoire bent down secured the rabbit’s stomach in her teeth. Bracing a paw on it, she ripped open the skin and abdomen. She pulled a nice mouth full off of the rabbit, tossed it towards her throat and swallowed. The warmth it gave her throat made her eyes roll in enjoyment. She pushed the rest of the rabbit towards the pup to eat. She could have whatever now - guts, muscle, fat, or bone. Grimoire made herself comfortable to wait for the puppy to finish. When she was done, Grimoire stood and gestured with her tail for Pine to pay attention,

”This time, you will do the tracking. However, when we find the prey, I will lead. Watch me closely for indications of chase, direction, and attack. This hunt will be a team effort if we are to succeed. If you understand, you may begin tracking oh… a deer fawn.”

Grimoire prepared herself to follow the youngster, and if need be, instruct her in smell and the appropriate angle of approach. The wind was headed from the west to the east today, so Grimoire would have to make sure their approach of a deer herd would be from the east so their carnivorous scents didn’t disturb their prey.

ooc: No problem! Also (I think I remember you saying this?), we could take the next post the hunting page to make it an official hunt, if you'd like? I will be available to post frequently now that school it out! =D
