It seemed that life had decided to throw us a cruel twist of fate. There was never enough time for a being to totally reconcile things. It was only after tragedy hit that the real guilt began to sit in - why was that? Why was it that it took death for us to realize what we truly had, what we had truly missed? I felt guilty for not spending time with my parents. Almost felt guilty about not seeing my brother but he was an ass sometimes and I was a bitch back and it usually ended in some sort of tussle. I wasn't aware of the feelings of guilt and chagrin that my halfway-mate was feeling because I had never delved deeper into his story about Natu. Only she had taken care of him, he had been depressed for a time and sick, and bada-bam-bada-boom he ended up in Glorall. I hardly even cared about it now because I had him, a constant companion even from the beginning (when he hadn't WANTED to be a companion, but my charming personality had won/forced him over).

To say that Grayson was shocked by my words was an understatement. Floored, I guess, but I nodded roughly when he looked me over in bewilderment. I hated this moment because it shouldn't have had to happen. Why the fuck did my dad have to go and die and my mom with him? WHY? I felt a need to tear at something but also a need to sleep and forget it ever happened. I blink and focus on him and can see strain on his face, something lurking in him. Frustration, sadness. I'm a healer after all so that meant I had to be keen and pay attention.

Even when I didn't want to.

"What the hell do you mean word gets around? Did a wolf just come up in here saying "oh, by the way, this man and his mate are dead!" My voice is rougher than usual, probably because I want to cry too. Not that I would right now, I had done enough of that. I sigh deep into his scruff when he embraces me, burrowing myself into him for a few moments and breathing in the spicy scent of Grayson. Slowly I pull back though, gray-green eyes searching his. "Something else has happened." It wasn't a question but it was a demand. A demand that he tell me because I need to know, need to get it all out now.
