Glorall

Disaster has struck!
Flooding from the north has taken its toll on Glorall. The large tides combined with the increase in water draining from the Ruieze River has flooded the lower regions of the pack. The sandy soil, compounded with so much water, has toppled a lot of trees. Traveling is difficult even when the water is shallower, with the sandy soil below being difficult to find traction on. The daily tides seem to keep the level of flooding fairly consistent, too.

During the low tide, wolves may be able to move around the higher dunes (with some difficulty) but during high tide, the pack is almost impossible to safely navigate. Swimming is possible, but the risk of currants and surges from either the ocean or the river are very real. The island off of the coast of Glorall is untouched by either issue, although it is incredibly difficult to find your way there without being an adept swimmer with plenty of good luck!

Note: Glorall will reopen once 30 posts have been completed (or at Staff discretion). During this time, new threads will receive a 'Surprise','Disaster', and prizes. Glorall is currently not open for challenges.

I Wanna Love You,
But I Better Not Touch

Winter had ended, and almost immediately she went looking for more herbs sometimes even staying all night; traveling far and wide making sure she was prepared for every scenario, both for the birthing she was sure she'd have soon and if Aides's friend needed her help then she'd be available for him as well. She wanted at the very least to have extra herbs ready for anything that'd pop up, when she was back within pack borders she'd spend a great deal of her time drying and dividing up most of the herbs and other supplies she collects into packets of big beach leaves; then divided the packets for each scenario she could think of, but still leaving an organized good stock free for unforeseen circumstances. Two weeks before the due date she predicted for herself, she prepared the birthing site she choose with a rather small den only meant to be temporary for her birthing, laying somewhere in between the familial den and the hollow tree that was her medicine den; she had one packet in the den with her also having three more packets of medical herbs buried nearby, should things go worse than expected. Perhaps some would see her preparations an over meticulous, but she saw every single one as necessary. Her belly had only slightly swollen over winter, she knew that it wouldn't be a big litter; but she was sure she was pregnant. A week before her self-predicted due date she moved into the birthing site for the days and nights lead up to the birth.

The sun was slowly approaching the horizon, her starry eyes watching it sink resting just outside the den. It started almost like an itch that couldn't be scratched, a minor discomfort that wouldn't be fixed through shifting or changing positions entirely. Then it happened her water broke, causing her to jerk slightly; before calmly jumping into action. Getting up from her resting spot, sending off a howl to inform her family, before lowering her head and striding in through the low entrance to the temporary den. feeling her abdomen clench, before returning to normal not too long after; only to feel a new contraction rolling in as she settled, her calm breaths slowly graduating to rapid pants. A wave of pain shot through her as another contraction came and went causing an unexpected yelp force itself from her, something was different in this birth compared to her previous one; the other had been uncomfortable, and while there had been some pain there was not much this early and none this intense. She found her jaw tightening as discomfort and pain seemed to grow with each new wave of contractions; by this time the last glimmers of sunlight were just beginning to disappear beyond the skyline signaling the end of day's reign and the beginning of night's rule over the land. the contractions kept strong seeming to put her in more and more pain, until the moon was high in the dark sky above; laying on her side she could feel the sweat dripping down her nose and pads, gritting her teeth as the last of the contractions began only a low whine escaping the back of her throat. fighting the urge to close her eyes and sleep she gingerly bent around tenderly grabbing the newborn and bringing it between her front paws, beginning to clean the little white girl of the after birth and blood; she licked quickly to help the girl's lungs clear and help warm her up. she remind the golden goddess much of Inanna, a whole lot of white only getting a closer look did she realize the girl had some cream on her and gold feathering down her front legs, as well as silver specks across her face. The golden goddess gently nudged to her stomach the newborn, and mummers, "You shall be known as Artemis." Then she turned her attention on herself, pawing at the bundle of herbs she had kept in this den, before raising her voice so he could hear her outside the den. "I know you are there, go get my herbs I buried under the tree right in front of the entrance to the den and come in to meet your new sister, my son."

He had heard her call just before sunset, the young boy was usually a shadow to his mother, but stopped following her when she spoke of him getting younger siblings soon. She had gotten fatter recently, though only barely noticeable; but after the sun went down he found himself slowly beginning to worry, he loved his family even if he put up a mask like he didn't. soon found himself making his way towards the howl finally coming to a clearing, where the scent of his mother was strong and a small den with the an acrid smell mixed with blood coming from it; he waited silently not really able to move, the moon getting higher. A low whine made him jump, he has never heard his mother make that noise before; however his mind could make the decision to poke his head in, he heard her wary voice call out to him. 'Damn it, how long did she know I was here? She’s sharper than I give her credit for.' He thought as he did as instructed finding the herbs with ease and bringing them to her. The moment he stepped into the den the smells just go a whole lot stronger, it combined with the sight of his mother panting and bleeding from her hind end made him woozy. His body freezing while his mind was screaming at him internally; until she once again snapped him out of it. "Come now stay with me, and pay attention I know you've followed me on my herb hunting trips; now I’ll actually teach you something." He immediately perked up dropping the herbs within her reach. His storm grey eyes watched as she unbundled the herbs and began speaking pointing with her nose. "These are poppy seeds they are pain relievers but I can’t take them yet pain is a great source of knowing where something is wrong, so I’ll take this first; chamomile which is an anti-inflammatory and stress reliever." He looks closely at the daisy like flower and gave it a good sniff before she gulped a few down and continued. "Next is horsetail really common in watery areas and will stop bleeding." He took a closer look at the spiky looking plant a realized he used to play among them when he was younger and he also recognized the yellow flower to come next. "And now we have dandelions which stop infection. Lastly are cobwebs which can help absorb blood and keep wounds together." She finished eating up the remaining herbs in different amounts and then leaning over pressing the cobwebs to and surface wounds with her nose. He spoke for the first time tonight, "Is that all?" Leaving her to respond. "For now, all that's left is rest. Though it may be harder for you to get more siblings now from me." With that he turned silently and left the den to sit guard at the entrance.
