Indian Hemp used to enjoy being alone, but time and experiences have change him. A rough childhood turned him into a distant and skittish young stallion, but kindness from strangers, and a little bit of love went a long way to soften his calloused heart. Indian Hemp returned to the islands to seek company after the death of his mate, and is disappointed to find it so empty. Though this new acquaintance seems like a nice enough fellow. Perhaps Hemp got lucky and one of the last souls left on this island could become a friend.
The spotted stallion doesn't laugh. He only pauses his chewing to cast Kendry a sorry look.
Indian Hemp contemplates Kendry's answer for a moment. It's strange that the bachelors have gone. Did the others have the same itch to migrate as Indian Hemp did? Hemp was, after all, not born on these islands. He came as a young stallion, to run away from the nightmares of his past. He took the newness of this place and used it to begin the healing process. He found friendship and sired young, but when Torix left the forest, Indian Hemp's old fears compelled him to leave too. He couldn't bear the thought of learning to trust another stallion, and he didn't feel ready to lead on his own. He wonders if he and Torix set off a chain reaction.
"I lived in the forest for a while, when I was younger, but I haven't called these islands home for a long time." He pauses, remembering. "If the Lagoon is as empty as you say it is, might you welcome the company? I just made the swim this morning. I don't have anywhere to stay." Indian Hemp is polite, as always. Were he any other bachelor, he would have just inserted himself into the ranks of the Lagoon, but such boldness is not in Indian Hemp's nature.
