Rules

• The Vulcan Peak is where homeless mares come to live as a sisterhood. Stallions may not live here except as captives or companions for the Leaders.

• Warriors keep mainly to fighting, Thinkers keep mainly to raiding, and Politicians may do both, neither, or act as diplomats. Members may issue their own battles and raids, but should generally consult the General, Codebreaker or Prime Minister for permission.

• All major decisions are determined by vote, but the Prime Minister maintains order within the Peak and has the final say.

• Elections for leadership positions will be held every TLI summer, provided the qualifying criteria are met.

• You can find detailed information about how the Peak works on the Rules page.

Argento beamed at the stranger's praise. He already knew he was observant - it was something his mother had told him before - and even if he didn't know exactly what it meant, he knew it was a good thing. Observant as he was, however, the young colt was only vaguely aware of the fact that the mare was acting a bit strangely. He was not yet at the age where he could comprehend the reasons for a horse's unusual behavior with precision; rather, he accepted and brushed off Macabre's shaky voice and uneasy stance as simple personality quirks.

"I'm Argento," he finally replied when it was his turn to speak. He spoke his name with pride, standing a little straighter and flicking his growing tail across his spotted hindquarters. "I was born here."

Before he could say anything else, there was the distant crescendo of hooves on stone. Argento turned his head to listen briefly, but did not appear concerned otherwise. "That's probably my brother," he informed Macabre. "We were racing, but he's really slow." The colt's blue eyes sparkled with humor.

Right on cue, a dark figure appeared on the ledge behind them, moving at a lumbering canter that suggested fatigue. Argento turned and called out, "Dee Dee!" and almost immediately the figure skidded to a halt. The horse that looked down at them was especially tall and muscular for someone so freshly mature, and solid black but for a diamond-shaped star on his forehead. He was breathing laboriously, his bright amber eyes darting back and forth with uncertainty between Argento and the strange mare. When at last he began to make his way down the slope toward them, there was a softness in his expression that belied his impressive build, and his eyes were almost shy as he regarded the small chestnut mare.

"This is Macabre," Argento informed the young stallion cheerfully as he took up a position beside him. "She's new here, but not reallly, because she used to live here." Still catching his breath, the young stallion nodded once politely. When Argento saw that he was not about to introduce himself, he continued on, turning to look at Macabre and gesturing to his brother with a tilt of his head. "This is Diamant, but everyone calls him Dee Dee."

"No they don't," Diamant suddenly said, his voice quiet and breathless, and touched with an air of indignation. He flicked an ear back and averted his gaze. "Just Diamant. Please."
