She had very nearly fallen off the faces of the mountains with a sudden and minor rock slide. Alone and curious she had followed a trail that had clearly been long abandoned for obvious reasons. As she had scrambled through the loose rocks and the dying shrub she had grown more excited with her discovery. This was a place very few others would be able to get to. She knew she would be safe there, and she knew she could keep others safe there. Removed from the prospect of bringing harm to the world around her she would be able to live peacefully in this barren part of Spirane and no one would be the wiser. It would be so easy to fulfill her life destiney to the fullest in such a place! At least until the rockslide happened.
One wrong paw placement and everything literally came crashing down around her. She had lost her balance and the loose rocks started a slide she had to turn and to avoid. Darting in and out of bigger rocks the stone grey girl seemed to move with them as they fell. Each moment passed the landslide grew in its momentum. Whines and cries of fear flew furiously from the little girl’s lips as she ran. It was as much as she deserved, but she was ready to give up yet! There had been too many things she had enjoyed to simply say good bye.
There had been those brief shining moments she could not have helped but bask in. The kind words that had been handed her way when she chose to step forward. She treasured the moments and help them close to her heart as she ran.
At last, the slide down the mountain slowed and she found herself in an entirely new place. Here there were just as many shadows and caves along with soft sounds of waterfalls and streams. Her little heart pounded in her chest. Red eyes widened and the black and white rings around her pupils shined with her excitement. Light met dark in this strange new place and it brought her a joy she had never thought she would feel. With mere steps she could enjoy the falling of water and play with it in her paws! The next she could be shadowed by the shelter of dark caves and black crevices that could hide her from the world. A smile spread across her blood red maw as she scrambled to the top of a moss covered rock. Pink tongue rolled out and she looked over a small pool she had found. For the first time she could remember her tail wagged behind her. In this secret place she was sure she could find herself.
