Dave Mason was the co-founder of Traffic, a 70s rock band that produced classic albums and songs like Mr. Fantasy, The Low Spark of High Heeled Boys, Feeling Alright and more. He played guitar on Jimi Hendrix's "All Along the Watchtower" which he performed that night along with his solo hits like "We just Disagree".
The Doobie set list was terrible, partly because they were only allowed an hour on stage (that outside amp has a 11pm curfew).
I was 10 feet from Journey's lead singer Arnel Pineda all night, and yes, he does a great job. He has made Journey an internationally hugely popular band, packing venues like the one in Tampa with over 20,000 there Friday night (despite the band playing there just a few months ago).
Oddly, the Doobies and Journey must have 50 or more top 40 hits and have sold nearly 140 million albums, yet Dave Mason is in the Rock'n'Roll Hall of Fame, while the others aren't. Replies:
