Her pale golden body shined bright beside her father as the moved fluidly through the forests she had come to call home. In the year she had spent among the trees she had slowly started to grow into herself. Side by side, Samhain and Solstice moved like rivers of silver and gold. Both pale and muted hues of each it was as though the metals they represented were still ghosts, not entirely in the world, but never on the outside of it either. As they ran and moved together through the trees it was clear that eventually the daughter would inherit the father’s grace if he continued to teach her to dance.
Today was different through. This was the day Samhain had come to collect his daughter and bring her into the plainland he called home. It had been a mystery to her as to why he would have kept her away for so long, but today the sun would shine and clear away the clouds of unknowing. His soft voice invited her, and in turn her thrill invited others from the forests of Taviora. After collecting a couple other pups from the forests, father and daughter made their way to Asteraia.
While Solstice played with Masque at Samhain’s feet the man lifted his voice to call others to the gathering. It was not long before more pups started to arrive. A few in particular caught Solstice’s attention. More cream and chocolate hues met her mismatched eyes. Their scent familiar. Thoth stepped forward and met his half-sister’s gaze with his own cold one. Usually warm towards any who came to her, the gaze of her brother turned Solstice’s blood to ice. Blinking, she shook her head and tried to ignore his icy-hot stare.
Tail began to sway as still more pups began to join the group. Wolves of the mountains gathered and she barked a cheerful greeting to them. Their excitement was as infectious as her’s was and her body flowed into a bow as well beside her father. In the same movement she laid on the ground and inched forward. Eager for friends she stuck her muzzle out at the sisters who had approached, hoping to sit with them while they listened to the story, but not wanting to intrude on a reunion.
