His father’s voice echoed over the rolling hills of Asteraia. Thoth looked in the direction it came from and narrowed his eyes. He was slowly coming to terms with the beautiful sounds others could make. Deep within himself he could sense and feel their beauty. Just as deep within himself he felt a rage that he could not add his own notes to the song the others around him sang. His shoulders hunched and teeth bared for a moment but he moved over the emerald grasses to answer the call anyway. Samhain had been telling him he would enjoy this story, learn from the gathering. There was opportunity here, though what kind of opportunity Thoth was interested to learn. As soon as he came upon the gathering he understood immediately what his father had meant.
Instantly he recognized a girl who was similar but different from himself. He could recognize blood when he saw it and knew her to be his sister. There was another though, one who came with Solstice that was entirely different. This girl was a blur, a ball of energy and madness.Thoth’s eyes widened and his nostrils flared. His mouth watered with a strange need as he watched her run from being to being. A long slow breath was let out through his nose. The fur on his body bristled briefly before settling back onto his body. His mind racing he moved to sit beside Samhain while the story was told. His attention too intense on the puppy that seemed oblivious to the world around her as she and his sister filled the world with too bright of laughter.
