Yeah, but when the guy that runs and owns it approves, what can anyone do? I'm not sure if he agrees with the mod, or if it just has become an issue of pride.
It seems as if the bigger, older board changed when "No Pier Pressure" was getting some disgruntled comments on Brian's own board and Facebook page due to guest artists such as Lana Del Rey and Frank Ocean being used. Then, friends of Brian (not just one, but two) showed up on that other board to reassure that Brian really wanted to use those guest artists, that NPP album was going to be great (and Brian personally played it for them prior to release), etc. Brian then later showed up on that board to do a Q & A. That board also gets much more traffic than Brian's own board, so it was a good move for Brian and his people to do that, both getting his friends to appear on the board and Brian himself. Then, the new mod would ask things like people should only post things that Brian and Melinda would approve of, because Brian and Melinda might be reading the board. Now, people know Brian is sensitive, but is that news? Why should that inhibit people anymore than the fact that Mike may read the boards, too, and lots of people post much nastier things than what his last solo recording attempt was like? Then, the new mod gets appointed moderator on the Brian blueboard.
You think all of those things are coincidences? Maybe they are. But maybe not, and oh, heck, even if it is all just a coincidence, don't let it get in the way of paranoia. Message boards about Brian Wilson and the Beach Boys are so important in the scheme of the larger world. Replies:
