Alligators. She'd heard of them before, considering her mother had taken her just about everywhere she could. They were ocean and seaward river reptiles that preyed on animals that stepped to far into the water. Preferred warmer climates, but did well in the colder ones due to hibernating in the winter. They wiggled into the mud and whatever else down there. That's where the shut down most body functions and slept all winter, after storing up as much food as they could. That was just what she knew about those creatures. Not to mention all the other animals her mother had told her about.
"Those only live in warm areas" she told him kindly, "it's too cold here for them, and they like it when the water is connected to the ocean". He didn't seem to like her being so close, so Amber wandered off a little bit, and sat down by the water's edge once more. If he wanted to talk more, he could come over here. She wouldn't turn him away, since if he was going to wander alone, he might as well become a gypsy as well. The younger ones were always welcome. Of course, she might have to tell this one about the meeting.
