tear down creation just to see if you can

Dracaena watched the stallion's expression fall in the wake of her words. She held her breath, anticipating a storm of angry retorts, hooves, teeth: anything. Indeed, she might almost have been satisfied with such a reaction, for it would mean that she had stirred something raw and passionate in this stranger's heart. Instead, what happened was something she could not have foreseen at all. As if her taunting words had pricked his bubble of interest as swift and sharp as a snake bite, the stallion abruptly turned from her without a word and slipped away into the night.

For a moment, the mare stood there, helpless. While her mind raced to find an appropriate solution to this situation, she flicked her pale tail in irritation. It would have been too easy to taunt him more, to shout after his retreating backside and make fun of the fact that he apparently had no sense of humor, or that his ego was as fragile as the twigs that snapped under his giant hooves. But in truth, it was her own ego that was bruised. It was her own stomach that churned like a hot vat of lava. She could not fathom why a stallion would walk away from her when she had essentially offered herself to him by striding into his home in the middle of the night. Dracaena knew she was desirable... or, at least, she had thought she was. Don't be an idiot, of course you are.

This would simply require a different strategy.

With a snort, the mare lurched forward and trotted after the stallion until she was parallel beside him. Her heart still raced - and she side-eyed him warily, ready to dodge a bite if need be - but otherwise the liver chestnut mare made to appear as if she was perfectly comfortable there, walking beside this huge, potentially dangerous stranger. "Where are we going?" she asked, tilting her head to meet his eye. Her voice held none of the venom it had moments before, but there still remained a playful edge to it, as though she was ready and waiting for the moment he decided to stop sulking and engage her in some banter.
