Ruieze Fields

Open fields and soft grass...
Ruieze stretches far in the midlands of Moladion, laced with streams that feed into Diveen and out of Asteraia at times. The fields are vast, filled with wildflowers and tall, soft grass; trees are sparse, as are rocks, but one can find small shrubs to hide amongst, and the grass itself. To the south of the fields, a Ruieze River widens, and the ground becomes sandy. There is a small, grassy island that can be reached from the banks, with water-birds often congregating on the island rather than the riverbanks.

Elara’s flattened ears and tense expression were warranted. It was difficult to relax around strangers, and despite her face, Dragonfly’s emotions were tinged with unease that neither male seemed keen on speaking and both more content to watch. It reminded her of the hunters that had ambushed her upon her arrival. It made for quite a perfect tale with a damsel in distress and two young heroes that came to her rescue, but the experience was still there. She still picked up on potential aggressive signals like motion detector raising an alarm at a waving thistle. Fortunately, her question seemed to deflate the situation so quickly, it caused her tail to wave eagerly for responses. Elara’s face was so astonished! Priceless. Dragonfly wouldn’t soon forget the delightful expression.

To Elara’s clarifying question, “You want to take them on dates?” Dragonfly nodded eagerly.

Who knew?! Elara seemed to be in the same wave Dragonfly was in; she’d hadn’t much experience with dating either. The short idea caused Dragonfly to tilt her head. Tag? Was it really that simple? Just walk up to a friend she might be interested in and invite them to play tag at midnight? It braught a wide grin to her face as she imagined it. Of course, Elara had given it a very mystic flare that Dragonfly decided she quite liked. The emotion she described seemed to run far deeper than the delight of tag, after all. Perhaps that was the emotion Dragonfly should be looking for?

Her expression dropped into serious consideration of the charcoal male when he spoke. The smooth, heavy voice of him settled around her like a charm. Never had there been a sound so captivating to her. His demeanor, so opposite to the lightly colored women around him, caused Dragonfly to stop thinking for half a moment. She really… just saw him. His shadowy body was poised a ways from them and content to observe their reactions to the seriousness he brought with only his eyes. Dragonfly watched the wind toss light dandelion seeds into the air to float around him.

What was he? Dragonfly was absolutely certain he was a wolf, but it seemed to her that he was far from anything she knew. It was difficult for her grasp, but she felt attached to him. Not in any extreme way; it was like her to her shadow. It was there, always; and so he had been there, always. She just hadn’t noticed him until now. Which was ridiculous! - The notion broke her trance as he finished his question.

Dragonfly’s head tilted in consideration of it and offered to him with a wondrous smile, “If dead eyes see lies, and if stars are the eyes of the dead, then there is no better place to witness the cultivation of truths than under them. Care to experience with me, your and my truths and see if they match?”

She maneuvered her head level again as she turned her eyes to Liquid Amber who tactfully shut down the idea of stars being the eyes of the dead. Dragonfly chuckled, and accepting Amber’s explanation of the stars as well. Different cultures saw differently the twinkling glimmers of night. Dragonfly’s culture put her between both ideas of stars. When a wolf died, their spirit floated up into the sky to watch over all the world, and guide all who lived after them. Her mother had told her stories of North Star, a wolf whose purity of voice and heart was unwatched. Their star burned the brightest at night, and was unmoving. Amber’s idea of the North Star seemed be only a dot of light in the sky, but Dragonfly suspected that the two were one in the same.

Dragonfly nodded to Liquid Amber and told her before she could stop herself, “… You make it sound so easy. Do you really just go up to wolves and talk to them? What if they try to eat your face - That happened to me once. I am seriously not looking for a repeat.”
