Actually currently doing mine. Had flaky paint too. Used a can of paint stripper and a plastic razor for strippingold gasket material. I can say it loosened up some of the fiberglass string in parts. Could smooth it out with liquid resin and hardener. Bondo could work too if it loosens. Rubber under coating or bed liner spray paint will help recreate texture. Sem brand fabric paint to recoat. Did that to my center console to since to was peeling and faded. Fixed crack it had with job weld and bondo. Diy fixes Replies:
