I caught a 6lb 3oz Saugeye outta the East Chippewa channel around 3 AM this morning 'flipping cranks along docks on foot from home...
-Day-bite has been very poor for eaters over 17"es -and- the Gals over 5-6 lb just move to the nearest food source between midnight & dawn for a easy to catch meal...
The dredge put some nice 6-7' slots here at Chippewa back in 2003 that the over 5 lbers seem to hang-out/rest in the daytime. IL has many simular safe/rest/eat locations for the good size Saugeye around the lake...
-the hump break weed growth this summer makes night trolling to much like work for this old fart -other- than banging the shallow rocks (mostly Islands) behind inline boards...
