The forest stands tall and lush here; ancient trees reach weather-twisted arms to the sky, fighting monster-like storm clouds back with their interlacing fingers. Shadow seems to lurk everywhere you look, but it spills calmly, coolly, inspiring a sense of stealthy calm or protection rather than unease. That is, if you've forgotten what kind of creature might be stalking just out of sight...Abendrot is a land cradled by the dark woods on all sides; in the center, some of the larger trees stay behind to reveal a small plateau - a citadel where this pack can gather and defend itself from invaders. There are, of course, softer sides to the land. Clearings here and there allow the sun to throw down its rays in incongruously resplendent gold showers. Ignore the lingering scents of blood spattered here and there along the borders: those do not concern you. The river on one edge of the territory is playful enough when it hasn't been gorged by violent rain. You can choose to note the ragged claw marks raked down tree trunks and the forest floor as friendly "Home Sweet Home" signs, if you wish.

All who treasure loyalty, order, victory, and the occasional indulgence of raw visceral pleasure are welcome, once they've been approved by the ever-watchful eyes of Abendrot's Alpha. But keep one thing in mind: no matter what your motive, this is not a fool's Paradise. This is the land of soldiers, assassins, and spies. This is ABENDROT.

Make up your mind quickly and prepare to prove your worth. You wouldn't want to add to those blood spatters, would you...?

Grey Wind

The male was still unsure where Macaria and himself stood. Before she had left their relationship had some structure to it at least. She knew that he was her superior, and though she often showed her fear, she also had affection for him. Though they did not talk much, occasionally she would ask him questions about his past and normally he would not have spoken about that, but sometimes he did, but only with Macaria. The male had not thought about his past much since he had come to Abendrot, and he had not thought that he would have discussed it with the female. Grey Wind was unsure of what he really thought of Macaria. She was a frightened femme, not the type that he would spend time with, but since he had been in the unique predicament he had spent more and more of his time with her. It was hard not to grow some sort of attachment when one spent most of their time with the same varg, but Grey Wind had not realized it until the female had left. Even though his den had grown cramped when she stayed with him, it had felt too big and empty when he was alone again. It was only then that he realized how used to her company he had grown.

But now Macaria had returned, and she was different. But the change in her was a good one in Grey Wind’s opinion. She was no longer frightened all the time, and had more of a personality now. What he did not realize though, was that since she no longer needed him, the darker colored femme would no longer come running back to him for protection. The male approached the female, a purring growl in his throat as he spoke to her. What he was not expecting from her though, was a hostile reaction. Her form whipped around, glaring at him in anger. The male was not put off by her demeanor, but it was a different side of her that he had never seen before. She snapped at him, her vocals filled with anger and venom. The male remained silent while she raged towards him, telling about her encounter with only one healer while she had been away. And then for the first time since he had brought Macaria back to Abendrot, she addressed the situation that he had kept her in. A growl came from her throat as she spoke in anger about how he had controlled her, and not always in a physical way, but in an emotional way. Grey Wind knew it was happening, and had done nothing to stop it. His intentions had not been for it to turn out how it had. He had had every intention of disposing of Macaria when he was done with her healer’s abilities, but he had not gone through with it. He was still not sure why he had not.

As Macaria went on, his form stiffened, and a growl of his own came out. The female continued her story about her time with Alaska and how she came upon Saw Tooth’s destroyed lands. The male had known that Saw Tooth had been emptied out because of a volcanic eruption. Even though he had no relationship with the pack, he still needed to keep tabs on the other packs within Blossom. But Macaria’s life with Saw Tooth was over, and so even though she had still been with him when he found out, he did not tell her. There was no point when she would not be returning there anyways. His audettes perked when he heard her laugh once more, knowing that there were no traces of the old Macaria left within this female. Grey Wind’s suspicions about what he had stumbled into when he found her with the two newest members of Abendrot as she went on to talk about vampirism and what she had done. What Grey Wind had not known was that it was her brother that had helped turn her. If she was in most other packs it would have frightened the wolves within, perhaps even be means to remove her from the pack. But not with Abendrot, not with Grey Wind. It did not frighten or disturb him that the female he had spent the last months with was now eating the flesh and blood of her own kind.

The last statement, about constantly being high on poppy, was also news to the male. He had picked up on the female acting different after some time, but had never thought that she was drugging herself. But the grey brute did not have time to dwell on it as Macaria turned her orange orbs accusingly to him, as if she blamed him for all the things that had happened to her. There was more than just accusations in her gaze, there was confusion and pain in them too. What was she thinking about him now? And then she was back to snarling and growling, her form rising and trembling as she spoke once more, "Why didn't you tell me about Saw Tooth, Grey? How do you see me now, Grey? Who am I to you?" The male remained silent at first, his yellow orbs bearing into her orange ones, trying to determine what it was she was thinking of him now that she had learned so much about her family and had changed. "I did not tell you about Saw Tooth because I knew your time there was done. When you chose to stay with me in Abendrot, even once I had been healed, I figured you had entirely left behind that life and there was no point dwelling in the past.” Grey Wind knew he was exaggerating a bit. Macaria may not have chosen to stay in Abendrot if he had not made her so afraid to leave in the first place. But the rest of what he said was true. "And I see that you’ve changed. The world does that once you learn how awful and cruel it really is. But you’re stronger now and it will help you survive. Living in fear is no way to live, Macaria.”" The male purposefully did not answer her last question, not knowing how to answer it himself. What was she to him? He had no idea. He didn’t know what she was before, so how could he know who this new Macaria was? Sure she was more appealing and attractive to him, but was that all she was now? "So, Macaria, what do you plan to do now? Now that you’ve seen some more of what the world is truly like, and how it can change you. Now that you’ve found a new way to become strong, who are you now?” His yellow orbs bore into her, his own form unmoving in front of her form that could not stay still.

"Fight back,"He snarled.
