The Rules
  • There will be no fraternizing with enemies. If you put yourself knowingly in danger, don't expect a rescue.
  • We are only as strong as our weakest link. See to it that you are getting stronger in some skill that is useful, whether it is battling, recruiting, charming, etc.
  • The King and Queen have final say in all matters.
This is no ordinary love

She listened half-heartedly to Koray's response to her question. She could tell by his tone that he was annoyed with her, but she didn't care. She couldn't stand still, despite the lingering burn in her muscles from the recent swim. She pranced in place and trotted circles around Koray all while looking at everything around her but him. This place felt so exotic and unreal. She felt like she was on another planet. But her burst of energy was short lived. The heat was oppressive, beating down on her in a way she'd never experienced before. The young mare let out a deep sigh and she breathed in the dry air, moisture quickly pimpling along the soft, dark skin of her muzzle and around her eyes. She wanted to remark on how impressive the heat was, but she held her breathe. She didn't want to hear another smartass remark from Koray.

She followed the young cremello stallion with a new sense of trepidation across the dried and caked landscape. She took delicate and careful steps across the flatlands at first, her nose hovering just over the earth, nostrils flared as she investigated the splintering cracks that stretched for what looked like miles. She watched from behind curious blue eyes as Koray traveled across it without a second thought. It reminded her of the treacherous ice that layered almost everything in the Bay during the coldest months of the year. One wrong step could cause the the ice to splinter and snap. But this heat and sand version clearly didn't work the same way.

Nova labored over the last part of their stint, the sides of gray colored barrel rising and falling in quick huffs as she struggled to scale the soft sand dunes. Her chest, face and neck were coated in a frothy layer of sweat already. She could feel the moisture pooling under her barrel and leaving behind a trail of sweat droplets in the sand. The gap between Koray had grown substantially during this point of their trek. It made her angry that he wouldn't let up and wait for her, but she was determined to reach him, too, to show her worth not really to him, but to his family. Finally she reached him when he settled at the highest point of the dune, coming to stand next him several minutes later. The mare was struggling to catch her breathe but surveyed the lush green point tucked away in the sea of sand before them. For a moment she felt foolish for how weary she must look, her coat was a mess of sweat and sand and froth between her legs. But this was it. She was about to meet her new family.

"What are we waiting for?" She asked in a hoarse voice, her tone barely more audible than a whisper. When he followed up with the possibility of a drink, she merely bobbed her head. "Aren't you?"
