CHARITABLE ADVERTISING on Web Site There are many worthwhile charitable causes in existence, but we can only accept sponsorship or fundraising efforts on Fusilier Association websites, that specifically support approved Fusilier charities. This essentially means that it is acceptable to use these pages to seek sponsorship for The Fusiliers Aid Society (which includes Fallen Fusiliers), and The Fusilier Memorial fund only. We now have our own dedicated justgiving site (http://www.justgiving.com/fusiliersaidsociety), which you can use to help raise money for your cause. If you let RHQ (Asst Regt Sec) know the specific cause you are raising money for, it will be directed to the correct fund. Messages soliciting sponsorship for causes or charities other than the Fusilier ones mentioned above should not be placed on the message board and may be removed by the Webmaster.

Charlie Davies 2LF
Charlie Davies was conscripted into the army in 1953 and after eight weeks training joined the Manchester Regiment.
One evening they were told to pack their kit and parade on the square, from here they were assigned to a four ton vehicle and were surprised to find a Corporal from the Lancashire Fusiliers on it.
They arrived at Wellington Barracks in Bury and were told they were being re-badged to the Lancashire Fusiliers and posted to Trieste in Italy. Charlie served in Italy with the 2nd Battalion Lancashire Fusiliers until they were disbanded in November 1954.
Charlie was then posted to Germany and served with the East Lancashire Regiment until his discharge in 1955.
Charlie settled down in Littleborough and read an advertisement in the local newspaper asking if any Fusiliers who had served in Trieste would help to form The Trieste Branch of the Fusiliers Association (Lancashire).
In 1981 Charlie was appointed Chairman of the Trieste Branch a post he has held for 35 years. Although now 80yrs old Charlie never fails to attend the monthly Association Meeting in Bury even though this entails a long round trip of four buses.
Charlie's dedication and commitment has kept the Trieste Branch alive through good and bad times, he has given so much to so many for so long and his service to the Association is undeniably worthy of this official recognition.
