Taika’s mind was a flurry of confusion. The steps he took towards her were so natural. So pure and a comforting reminder of the days they had spent together and the love they had shared between them. He stopped and it felt as though he tugged her heart out of her chest. The closeness they shared was killed by the distance that lingered. She tried to save face, to keep on the brave mask, but the look in his eyes caused her to close her own against the bleeding feeling within her. Eyes pressed tight, she tried to close herself from what she was experiencing. She tried to pretend this was all a lie, some nightmare that she would wake from by closing her eyes.
As he steps towards her, she lowers herself to the ground, pressing her ears against her neck. She is confident he would not physically hurt her, but she could not bear the hurt that came from his closeness. She could not handle his...touch. Her spirit both shattered and soared with just the simple touch of his nose to her crown. Heart raced with the desire to feel his tongue against her, for that touch to turn into a nuzzle. His words whispered through her head, but she did not grasp their meaning. They spoke of love and a promise to be there. But it was all a lie.
Chocolate eyes slowly opened, the golden cracks flickering with the shining of tears.
His growl sinks her further to the ground, tail between her legs and a whine in her lips. This was all wrong. From her lowered place on the ground, she looked up at him and studied him. The man’s own confusion made her ache. Gingerly, she stepped towards him, the very tip of her tail wiggling hopefully.
