A large mountain lion strolled across Halfway Pond Road in front of us at about 5:30 p.m. on August 22nd, 2016. We had just turned off West Long Pond Road, heading toward Mast Road in Plymouth, MA. The beautiful animal was a golden, light brown color (similar to an African lion), with a very long, swishing tail. It was heading from the direction of Halfway Pond, toward the Wildflower Lane side of the road. I have done a lot of walking and running around Long Pond, and Halfway Pond and I never realized we had such large cats in these woods. I should have, having been right behind a truck that struck a huge mountain lion on 3A one night about eleven or twelve years ago. That one was near the tall pines surrounding the Ellisville Harbor salt marsh. Replies:
