Aplos Riverside

Moladion’s powerful, winding river...
Aplos River is a broad, slow-moving river originating from somewhere beneath the mountains of Spirane and feeding Iromar’s moors in the south. The northern parts of the river are known for their strong currents, with the water becoming slow moving in the south. The riverbanks vary along its course, ranging from soft hummock grasses to small groups of pine, and sometimes nothing but pebbles and sand. Crossing can be difficult at times, but it can be swam or bridged by fallen trees or boulders alike.

"Are you so sure that you won't grow up into a dragon, then?"

The question makes her laugh, a soft and sweet thing that barely whispered into the air between them. His tease had played it’s part and she liked him only the better for having enough humor to say such a ridiculous thing. She so rarely said the ridiculous when she wasn’t waxing poetic. Then, he moves on, "The dragons in Wolf Mountain's legends came from eggs, sometimes laid by a breeding pair, and other times they were mysteriously found, nestled in the grass or behind some rocks. You were said to be quite lucky if a dragon respected you enough to accompany you."

She smiles, "Then if I am a dragon, you must be quite lucky yourself, no?" It was a hint, none too subtle either, that she wished company despite her happy wandering. Better to hint than to speak aloud her mind, worrisome as it would be if he should not want the company she spoke of offering.

"I don't mean to be so forward, but... why have you traveled so far from your homeland?" A happy interruption to her thoughts of accompanying a strange wolf in it’s daily walk, his words about not meaning to be forward strike her as odd. He was a very direct and forward creature from the start, initiating them both into conversation without two blinks shared between them. "I am The One Who Swims Beyond, at least to my people. It is the story for which I am named, my parents predicting me to be this way. It is a fable, if you would like to hear it?"

She curls her tail about her haunches and tilts her head with bright expectation.
