Ruieze Fields

Open fields and soft grass...
Ruieze stretches far in the midlands of Moladion, laced with streams that feed into Diveen and out of Asteraia at times. The fields are vast, filled with wildflowers and tall, soft grass; trees are sparse, as are rocks, but one can find small shrubs to hide amongst, and the grass itself. To the south of the fields, a Ruieze River widens, and the ground becomes sandy. There is a small, grassy island that can be reached from the banks, with water-birds often congregating on the island rather than the riverbanks.

to touch me is a curse

No…. No no no no no, please no. Not here, not this time.

Mirage looked to the sky as Pariah’s curse started to set in. The dark clouds rolled and threatened and the girl pressed herself against Halcyon’s longer limbs. A soft whine came from her lips. Who uttered it, neither of them knew. Everything in her called for her to leave and to run, seek the safety of being alone and save this hero from the fate that was associating with this devil spawn. Instead, a puppy’s instinct took over and she trailed after the older wolf, blindly trusting him to lead her to shelter, no matter where it would be. Everytime he slipped or fell, she was at his heels, accidentally offering her small body to help brace or prop him back up. Together they helped each other through the onslaught though it drained her young body.

At long last they made it to the center of the lake. Mirage curled up tight into a ball in the reeds he had indicated, feeling only slightly warmer in the shelter of the tall grass. Even so much of a degree was a welcome blessing, as was his attempt to shield her from the wind trying to grip her flesh.A glistening gaze looked up at him at his words. Her heart sank. No parents would come looking for her. No pack would notice her absence. A teacher may wonder at the loss of her pupil, but later revel in the new abundance of food. No one would miss a Pariah, and no one had seen her Mirage. If Halcyon stayed with her the storm would claim three lives and only one of them would be noticed. She gazed at him from behind her blood colored mask and rushed to think of an idea. There was one shelter she knew.

The Crags! she said in a cut in the wind. I would be found in the crags.

The twists and turns and rocks of the terrain would protect them from the storm that raged. The shadows and holes were perfect for her to escape and hide from him. It was in the sheltering caves Pariah could abandon Malcyon, and Mirage could save his life just as he had come to save her’s.

to love me...
