aurora borealis- noun plural: An aurora that occurs in northern regions of the earth. Also called northern lights.

In the middle of a dense forest of coniferous trees lies the Aurora Borealis pack, its name coming from its location. At certain times of the year, the northern lights appear, dancing almost magically in the sky. A narrow trail leads you through the close evergreens. Giving into temptation, you begin moving your paws. By venturing into this territory, you are venturing into a land belonging to a pair of feared leaders. You have heard rumors of them...but you decide to take your chances and hope that the tales of blood and death are merely fabricated stories to scare wolves.

You have walked nearly five minutes before you realize the sound of paws stepping somewhere from behind. Deciding that you've made a mistake, you quickly turn around, but find that you cannot go any further. Standing before you is one of the mighty kings you've heard of. His blood red pelt clings over perfectly toned bands of muscle. But that isn't what causes such fear in your veins. One of his amber eyes has a horrid, bleeding scar across it, and his good eye seems to stare right through you. His face is expressionless, giving off none of his intentions. You cower away as his jaws part.

"I'm Hell Demon."

His voice was deep and cut through the air like a hot knife through butter. Right where he left off, another voice picks up from behind you. You whirl around and find yourself facing another male with steely muscles beneath his pelt, which seems to consist of every shade of brown. He had startled you, and you're amazed how you hadn't at all detected his approach.

"And I am Ghost...we're the alphas of Aurora Borealis."

His deep voice was laced thickly with a Native American accent. His own golden eyes are directing a harsh glare your way. Now you're caught in the middle...your breathing has become heavy in your panic and you're not sure which to face.

"You've foolishly trespassed into our territory. You face the one called Hell Demon's whose voice is once more addressing you. Get out, or become a corpse along our border."

It's obvious they mean business. So now it's up to you...take your chances and stay, or heed their warning and waste no time getting out with your life.

GWAINE

It had been too long since Gwaine had been in the presence of another. He had truly missed it during his time as a loner. There had been the odd conversation here and there, but nothing more than small talk. He hadn’t built a connection to any since he’d met Kal. His own fault really, the knight mused as he followed Chenzii in a tour of his new home. Words flowed easily between them, but Gwaine made sure not to find himself too lost in the conversation so that he could still pay attention to his surroundings and build a mental map of Aurora. However, the brute found his gaze drawn back to the femme before too long.

Though Gwaine wouldn’t have admitted it to anyone yet, not even Kalgalath, he couldn’t deny that he was flirting a bit. Nothing over the top of course, that wasn’t who he was, but a little bit here and there. The knight wasn’t blind, he could see that the eboness was… well, beautiful. If she showed any indication that his words displeased her he would stop though. Gwaine couldn’t imagine forcing anyone to like him. But for now, Chenzii did not seem to mind, smiling shyly at Gwaine. The male couldn’t help but to return the smile, blushing a bit. He was a fairly happy varg, but he was usually able to keep a straight face when he wanted. Gwaine wanted to make her laugh and smile and his usual way of doing so would be to make a fool out of himself, but at the same time he wanted to impress her.

The pair continued their tour of the territory until Gwaine had seen most of it and knew where the important landmarks were. The earthen brute inquired about housing, seeing if perhaps Chenzii knew somewhere particularly excellent or special for him to build his den. A lull in the conversation came over the pair as the femme considered the question for a moment. Then, with a smile she turned away to begin guiding Gwaine. “I found a nice place when I first moved here, and no one else has come nearby to make a den since. I’ll show you the spot and if you like it you could make a den there as well. I’ll show you a few other popular spots along the way.” Briefly Chenzii looked back, watching the knight for a moment. He nodded at her, agreeing with the plan. A slight warmth rose to Gwaine’s cheeks when she said that he could live near her if he wanted. Surely she meant nothing by it, right? He was just overthinking it, wasn’t he? After all, they’d only just met.

The first location was a bright field. “I know a lot of wolves have lived here, and still do. There are some dens that you could take if you didn’t want to dig your own. But it can be busy here with all the beings that live here. So it depends on what style of life you want.” Gwaine cocked his head, chocolate eyes scanning over the place. “Like you said, it is rather busy…” He said thoughtfully. The knight would certainly consider the location, but he wasn’t sure about it. Chenzii gave him a moment to look over the area again before turning back towards the trees. Gwaine followed, only steps behind. Gradually, the foliage above them began to cover the sunlight. It made for a darker area, but a comforting dark. Like when the sun has gone down, but it is not quite night, or when storm clouds blanket the sky. The two ducked beneath ferns and pushed past the shrubs until they arrived at their second location. “And this is a more secluded place. The only den here is mine, but there is lots of space where others could move in too. Not as many wolves through travel here so there’s not as much traffic. Again depends on what type of lifestyle you like.”

The raven ess smiled at Gwaine again. “Well… I mean…” He coughed, trying to make a cohesive sentence again. He must have seemed rather silly, all flustered and such. “I think I would like to live here.” The brute smiled back at Chenzii. “As long as you’re sure I’m not intruding on you.”
