Re(4): Listener 4411 Extra English by Raffles

Thoroughly enjoyable puzzle, thanks Raffles. Theme emerged quite quickly to me, and I took the easy option of looking at Bradford's angels, which confirmed all my guesses. (Do some purists still look down their noses at Bradford users ?) Never heard of Eliel.

When I was at university in the mid-50s there were many hulking great South Africans in my college one of whom taught me some Afrikaans phrases like:
"MY NAAM IS ROOINEK" (my name is redneck) and "EK LYK SOOS 'N BOBBEJAAN" (I look like a baboon)

A final comment ... when Daniel ANGEL came out of the hat as a winner, did John Green take this as a supreme example of God moving in mysterious ways ?
