EREBOS
we're all devoid believing we're fallen angels when really we're all just empty vessels
He watched her every moment and reaction to him and what he was doing. She was eating greedily yet there was little he did about it. He pondered stealing her hard won meal to teach her another lesson, but he wanted her to trust him not earn her ire. Even with his size he knew she would fight for it. Her small form and how hard she worked he could tell by the rigidity of her form that she would fight like her life depended on it to keep that meal. That was good. She was determined. His tail flicked lightly eyes going over the child as she stared at him in silent observation as well. Until finally he decided it was time speak.
Her eyes were so harsh, staring at him like at any moment he would strike her down. He could…. She was a whelp still… a child so easily to curb the lives of something so small, yet she was pack and pack was worth protecting. Then again, he was becoming the judge of who should stay and who should go. That was why he was here after all. If she wasn’t worth Father Eden’s time he would kill her… There was no need to waste precious resources on something so not useful, but Erebos saw something in her. A fire that burned and he liked it, he wanted to grab it and snuff it out or keep it for himself… He pondered the implications for a moment before she shot back some retort as he pondered her rather obvious answer. She had no one.
”You have a pack,” He grumbled, ”do not be ungrateful. You’d be dead if you were not within our lands.” Be it a wolf or some other creature pups on their own did not normally live... She was no exception to the rule. ”Erebos is here because he is your judge, he is your jury, he is your executioner… But Erebos sees something in you. He sees fire. You want to live, you work to live you are worthy to be here he thinks and since you are not alone that means someone will teach you how to live. It may not be life givers… but it can be Erebos, it can be the hunters, you have the pack to teach you what life givers abandoned you to be without. Let the pack teach you to live.” He says to her in his low drawn tone. He let silence fall over him. ”Now will you be a bad hunter forever? Or starve yourself until… or will you let the pack teach you?”
It was a serious question. To deny the help that was in front of her was noble but stupid. She should not squander what little her life giver had managed to hand to her. A home. Resources. Others to do the work for them. Lucky for whoever left her here that the pack would not just let her die as nature intends for abandoned children.
