The forest stands tall and lush here; ancient trees reach weather-twisted arms to the sky, fighting monster-like storm clouds back with their interlacing fingers. Shadow seems to lurk everywhere you look, but it spills calmly, coolly, inspiring a sense of stealthy calm or protection rather than unease. That is, if you've forgotten what kind of creature might be stalking just out of sight...Abendrot is a land cradled by the dark woods on all sides; in the center, some of the larger trees stay behind to reveal a small plateau - a citadel where this pack can gather and defend itself from invaders. There are, of course, softer sides to the land. Clearings here and there allow the sun to throw down its rays in incongruously resplendent gold showers. Ignore the lingering scents of blood spattered here and there along the borders: those do not concern you. The river on one edge of the territory is playful enough when it hasn't been gorged by violent rain. You can choose to note the ragged claw marks raked down tree trunks and the forest floor as friendly "Home Sweet Home" signs, if you wish.

All who treasure loyalty, order, victory, and the occasional indulgence of raw visceral pleasure are welcome, once they've been approved by the ever-watchful eyes of Abendrot's Alpha. But keep one thing in mind: no matter what your motive, this is not a fool's Paradise. This is the land of soldiers, assassins, and spies. This is ABENDROT.

Make up your mind quickly and prepare to prove your worth. You wouldn't want to add to those blood spatters, would you...?

So few. So few came to her call. All her life she had heard from her father about the great pack of Abendrot, led by the fearless and ruthless Kershov. That was why she had come - to become a part of something great and terrible. To be a part of something bigger than herself, where everyone in the pack mattered and there wasno weak link. It was directly here that she had come in order to make her life anew. But Kershov was no longer here - he was gone, spirited away in the dead of the night to Tor knows where for Fenris knows what reason. Not a single word had been spoken to explain his sudden absence, and Halina had been less than pleased with the change. She had come to this pack to serve under Kershov, not Grey Wind. She had come because of the Ice King's reputation, not for some loner who no one had ever heard of. And she had been resilient to the change, staying only because of her loyalty to the pack, with the thought that this all was just one big understanding that that Kershov would return. But he didn't, and he hadn't.

And so here she was know.

She found that Grey Wind had become a decent Alpha. and she believed that given time, he could become a great Alpha. Afterall, Kershov had not formed his empire in one night, nor even one fortnight. He needed to settle his personal issues first... The first of which seemed to have settled itself.

Macaria.

It was interesting, really, her sudden change in not only appearance but attitude as well. She had originally been presented to the pack as a weakling - a weak link - something that Halina would not stand for. It was because of Macaria, in fact, that she had originally judged Grey Wind so harshly. Even keeping something so weak as a prisoner was undeserving of praise, let alone calling her a pack member. But now, she had made a 180 turnabout. From fearful to unafraid, from shy to bold, from weak to strong. She had not believed it at first, for how could such a thing happen? But then the answer came to her - vampirism. It was not as mythological as the rumors made it out to be - they were not immortal, or affected by daylight, and hell all wolves would die if they ingested too much garlic. No, they simply preferred to eat other wolves. It was true that they preferred the darkness... And perhaps they were stronger, but likely only because they hunted stronger prey. It was all logical, without even a single footstep into the magical realm.

It was remarkable still.

And Halina did not miss the way her protégée seemed so interested in Macaria - not romantically... But something else. Yet he had yet to mention anything to Halina as of yet. She wondered when he would work up the courage to do so, and found that she would be disappointed in him should he remain quiet.

But to digress, Halina rose to her paws when it seemed that no other wolves would arrive to her little soirée. Affectionately, she nipped at her mate's nape before turning her attention to Lupin as well. "I hope that you have been pushing yourself to build both muscles and endurance, Lupin, for today you will be pushed to your extremes. Ygritte and I will spar to show you different fighting styles. And then, we will fight you. For now, you are smaller, and thus are easy prey for any wolf sneaking around, and so for now we will each you how to evade rather than attack. Use your slight frame to your advantage. And do not you dare be insulted - a good fighter knows and recognizes both their strengths and weaknesses." She spoke sternly to him - she was not his mother, but his teacher, and she would not allow for him to fail.

However, her features softened when she turned to Ygritte and she backed up a few steps, giving them space. Her paws left gentle prints in the snow as she backed up. "Ready, my love?" Halina paused until Ygritte took up her stance and then exploded at her, quick paws tilting forward so that claws got more purchase on the slippery ground, digging deep into the ground. Using the slickness to her advantage, she made as if to barrel right into Ygritte, but at the last minute ducked down to try to slid underneath her and pushed up sharply to try to flip her over. If she succeeded, she would turn to the left sharply and dive at the easy kill of her jugular, teeth invading flesh gently, leaving only shallow puncture wounds. But if Ygritte evaded her, she would instead turn right, and try to latch onto Ygritte's right hind limb in an attempt to pull her off balance on the uneven footing.
