every man has his torments

Idelle relaxed considerably to learn she and her unborn child would be welcomed here with metaphorically open arms. She herself had grown up among the shadows of Crossing and didn’t want the same for her child. There was always a myriad of personalities drifting through the place and while it wasn’t a particularly negative thing, Idelle imagined it would be best if her child had roots to settle back into. A home with family. She smiled at Ailill, feeling close to him even though they’d only just met. Idelle hadn’t had true family in any sense of the world and her paths crossing with Tarrant had sparked a fire inside her; a desire for that which she’d never had.

She paused as he asked about the rumors. Idelle had only been on Crossing Isle for a month at most, searching the brush for her elusive dam and coming up short, but it had been long enough to hear what those of the islands were saying. “They’re still small in number, or so I’ve been told,” her mother had always loathed the Lagoon and had kept them at the opposite ends of the border. “But they’ve begun harassing the herds of the islands. There’s rumor a mare was taken against her will.” Idelle said the words quietly, hoping it was only a few words said to playfully frighten others (though she wouldn’t ever make up lies about such a terrible thing) and not true in the slightest.

“My mother had once told me the Lagoon was a terrible place full of monsters.” Idelle looked with concern to her cousin. “She thought the world was full of evil, so I thought to disregard her warnings. But if these rumors are true…” Maybe her mother had been right after all.

Idelle sighed gently and shook her head. “I’m just happy I have somewhere to go with someone I trust.” She smiled kindly at Aillil after saying so, admitting she already held him in very high regard. “This is my first time I’ve ever been to Atlantis, but already I can see you must love it dearly.” Who could blame him? The sights around her were beautiful and she could only imagine how much more they grew in beauty the further one looked.
