Glorall

Disaster has struck!
Flooding from the north has taken its toll on Glorall. The large tides combined with the increase in water draining from the Ruieze River has flooded the lower regions of the pack. The sandy soil, compounded with so much water, has toppled a lot of trees. Traveling is difficult even when the water is shallower, with the sandy soil below being difficult to find traction on. The daily tides seem to keep the level of flooding fairly consistent, too.

During the low tide, wolves may be able to move around the higher dunes (with some difficulty) but during high tide, the pack is almost impossible to safely navigate. Swimming is possible, but the risk of currants and surges from either the ocean or the river are very real. The island off of the coast of Glorall is untouched by either issue, although it is incredibly difficult to find your way there without being an adept swimmer with plenty of good luck!

Note: Glorall will reopen once 30 posts have been completed (or at Staff discretion). During this time, new threads will receive a 'Surprise','Disaster', and prizes. Glorall is currently not open for challenges.

One of the virtues of the greatest hunters is to have patience. As demonstrated by my ability to sit here upon the rocks that fringed the pool as the tide came in and brought the sea life with it, I had mastered that skill. I could poise myself in just the right spot and wait for the perfect moment to strike my prey, there was no question of that. But when it came to waiting for other wolves - whether it be a hunting party or an individual like Ehiyeh - I had a zero tolerance policy. She was late, and each moment longer that I was made to wait and not able to complete the hunt I had planned, I grew more irritated. Sure, she was young, but that didn't excuse her tardiness. I was never so flippant about lessons when I was a child. Though my mothers never would have tolerated such a thing; but that's beside the point. Finally, I cast a glance over my shoulder and saw the girl's hooded figure descending the dunes and moving towards me. I resisted the urge to huff and swallowed my irritation. Being annoyed with her wouldn't help the hunt, and I didn't want to let Eden down.

Stern eyes of emerald green bore into the girl as she approached nonchalantly. No apology, but no excuses. I could respect that at least. Mum had never allowed us to make excuses for our screw ups - and I had had to work hard to be more than the first born (a thing that was not a good thing, I'd learned). The way Ehiyeh looked around without any interest made it quite clear that she thought this whole ordeal was beneath her. "You're late," I said simply, eyes narrowing slightly. Any change in my gaze was defined by the white that lined them, so I barely had to shift my brows to make my emotions known. Little did she know, I had been a prideful little girl who thought she was better than everyone else before she really was. But now, now I was the best, and I would show her that I had valuable things to teach her. Oh, look at me, all grown up and ready to impart my knowledge on the younger generation.

"Get up here," I said, motioning for her to join me atop the rocks that encircled the tidal pool. My voice was kept low and even, not wanting to disturb the marine life that rested at our paws. My eyes turned back to the flourishing tidal pool, and even when the girl had situated herself beside me I did not look to her. Some of the fish closer to the surface fled from the new shadow cast across them, but I was relieved to see that the camouflaged ray had not yet stirred. Only letting my gaze linger upon it for a moment, I glanced out and around the pool, looking for the best points from which to attack. Where we were now would be a good launching pad, and I picked out a secondary position where I would move to in a moment. "Do you see what I see?" I asked quietly, but firmly, of Ehiyeh. I wanted to know if she all she saw before us were colorful fish and coral, or if she saw something more. Once more I looked to where the ray was hidden in plain sight, and after a moment lifted my gaze to the girl. "There is a ray nestled within the sand, just inside leaping distance from this rock. Think that's challenging enough?" I waited only a moment for her response, because with or without her I was going to take this ray now that I had set my mind to it.

Carefully, I maneuvered around Ehiyeh and slunk along the rocky escarpment until I reached the other position from which to attack. It was closer to the channel by which the fish had entered the pool, allowing me to at least attempt to block its exit if it escaped the young cream girl's attack. I settled in and let the fish relax in the pool once more, and then I looked to Ehiyeh. Her father wanted me to teach her something today, and she wouldn't learn anything if I did all of the work. So I would wait for her mark...that is of course if her pretty little eyes had even been able to spy our quarry within the sands.
