Aplos Riverside

Moladion’s powerful, winding river...
Aplos River is a broad, slow-moving river originating from somewhere beneath the mountains of Spirane and feeding Iromar’s moors in the south. The northern parts of the river are known for their strong currents, with the water becoming slow moving in the south. The riverbanks vary along its course, ranging from soft hummock grasses to small groups of pine, and sometimes nothing but pebbles and sand. Crossing can be difficult at times, but it can be swam or bridged by fallen trees or boulders alike.

Moonfeather's brows rose in surprise as his blunt statement. Something didn't seem quite right here. Despite the seriousness with which he made the explanation, it was somehow clear to the young girl that he was being sarcastic. She felt the pit of her stomach drop as she moved towards them and got a closer look at the unconscious wolf. For a moment her eyes were glued to the nearly still form, barely detecting the rise and fall of breathing. Then the male asked her if she was a 'doc,' and Moonfeather's bright turquoise eyes lifted to meet his. Whether or not he'd caused this didn't matter - something very serious was going on. Her question had been a sincere offer of help, and if she could do anything for them, she would.

"I am a Crone of Spirane, training to be a healer," she said, forthright with the knowledge that she was not yet a master, and certainly not a 'doc.' "Dry, or fresh needles? There are evergreens nearby. As for garlic, my mentor has stores within the pack lands." Her mind was running over factoids about the causes of fainting - blood pressure problems, seizures, low blood sugar, and half a dozen other possible culprits. Little did she know that the problem ran far deeper than all that.

"Can we move her?" She was, of course, unaware of the fact that this stranger had already brought her this far. Moving forward boldly, Moonfeather offered her own growing frame to help lift and support the woman in whatever capacity was needed. Nearing maturity, she was only a couple of inches shorter than the male, and perhaps between them they could shoulder the weight of the larger shewolf. But he had asked for garlic and pine needles. Her mind flicked between the options - run to retrieve supplies to treat her here, or bring her into the safety of the pack and then gather the components asked for. Intuition had always helped the girl greatly, but that could only take a healer so far. In these moments, it was training that the girl required, and from it she would learn a lesson that would stay with her forever. Someday, she would be the wolf calling the shots, but today, she looked to the stranger for his guidance.
