News 08.08.2021
Change was long overdue in Spirane. Now that I have learned who is still an active presence within the pack, the ranks have been updated. As I once took time away from the pack, so too now shall Kalseru. Know that she is still second in command of the pack, as is reflected in her rank. Once you are familiar with the new ranking system, if you would like to change positions or move up in the ranks you need only ask. Let this be a time of new life in Spirane, and a promise of great things to come!

When the snows fall and the white winds blow, the lone wolf dies, but the pack survives.

She has been many things in her life - a pack wolf, a loner, an imprint, a daughter and yet, a narrator? She isn't sure how well such a title suits her and yet, it rests comfortably upon her for the time being. There is joy, after all, in bringing joy, she thinks. It will please Amber and the others to perform their play and entertain the wolves of Spirane; for Elara, too, it is a gateway to possibility. Perhaps, and this she has considered, Spirane will make her fall in love again, tempt her to relinguish her position as a loner and yet...she must not think too hard upon it. Instead, she must focus on the task: addressing the wolves.

She is assuredly beautiful that day; spring clings to her well. Her fur is clean and pale, dusted by the sweet pollen of the free lands. In her ruff, she has taken it upon herself to place several small flowers, pink and blue, soft against the dusty nature of her own colours. She is gentle in her strides as she sucks in a deep breath, nervous but confident, a nod given to Amber as she prepares. She only waits a moment for them to focus on her before she speaks, her voice like a windchime yet, there is hidden strength.

She bows and begins: "Once upon a time, in a place so far away, a mother found herself alone and with children." She waits, then, for the others to take their places. "Taking refuge, she met a witch in the valley who told her that any caught hunting without her consent would be punished. This woman, of course, had done such a thing, as hungry as she were! Despite it all, the witch gave her no mercy and yet, she left unscathed." Her voice was solemn for a moment, her lips taut.

"And so, Rapunzel was born and cherished, her mother doting on her every want and need. So long was her tail, they say, that it could lead any wolf into the skies themselves. Yet, the witch took her, a mere whelp with little more than her mother's kiss to remember her by." The actors danced and swayed, and Elara stepped forward, intense suddenly as the scenes began to change. "For years, she was kept away! Alone and confined to a dark and terrible place!" She nipped the air, issuing it towards the youngest in the crowd before she sauntered back into place. "But a prince happened upon the cave in which she was kept. Enchanted by the mystery, he kept watch as the witch ordered the lady to lower her tail so that she might climb. On the third day, you see, he wished to test his luck."

She could not help but grin as the others continued their display, amused herself at their antics. "And so, he and Rapunzel met on this third day and many days to come. They began to trust one another and, from trust, perhaps love began to bloom." She winked, the slightest gesture, at the crowd. "But a witch cannot be fooled! When she discovered their secret, she tore Rapunzel from the cave and dragged her to the grotto. There, she was confined once again: a deep, dark pit to call her home." The thought itself made her shudder and yet, she continued nonetheless.

"Rapunzel tried to escape and so, the witch took her tail as punishment. The prince, hearing her cries, could not stop loving her and so, he found them. Yet, the witch had grown crueler - she teased him, you see, with Rapunzel's once beautiful tail. She flung it down the incline, laughing and teasing as she did. Only, the prince grew angry and the prince was smart." She smiled coyly, directing them to the action with a sweep of her muzzle. "The prince used her tail to climb and with a heart full of love and fury, he challenged the witch. Too foolish to know better, she faced him. However, she was not ready for how intensely he wished to free Rapunzel from her despair! It took him only minutes to defeat the witch, her body thrown down the ravine and into a distant memory."

Her voice shifted then, a lighter thing that seemed like a breeze. "He found her then and freed her, Rapunzel that is. Together, they left the grotto and entered the fields. The fields were filled with song birds and flowers and side by side, they returned to the prince's kingdom." She grinned, a toothy thing of pride. "The prince took Rapunzel as his princess, introducing her to the king and queen as such. And from that day into eternity, they lived and loved together, forever keeping watch on the beauty of their kingdom."
