Despite the sweltering afternoon heat. Her mind still gnawed at her to hunt, learn, or simply observe the world. The heat sank itself deep into the black of her pelt and part of it left her with regret of leaving the grasslands where she could remain hidden away but as the afternoon sun made its claim she knew she wouldn’t be making her way back to the grasslands until nightfall for even now her body felt sluggish. She knew her mother hated the woodlands and this place was one she hadn’t explored before other than passing through. Perhaps if she were a creature lost to thought she would press her mother for answers but she didn't see reasons for such things. The gnawing wouldn't allow her to stay in thought for long; she must be ever observant and viglant, careful not to become prey.
It didn’t seem too bad and it was a great relief to the suns rays; in these moments she envied her brother and mother for their light colored coats but she was better defended in the winters bitter days and in fights, the thickened fur was useful to giving her breathing room. She sauntered off to the stream she happened upon not so long ago before taking in her fill. The world was silenced in her presence saved for the sound of the water bubbling away. She was cautious but allowed herself some peace laying against a tree drifting in and out occasionally being brushed by the warm breezes. Certainly, no one would be foolish enough to be out in the heat just to pester her even still she kept a caution about her with keen ears ready to alert her to someone's presence.
