This weekend at Balm Beach we had several visits at our feeder by a female red-bellied woodpecker. The last time we saw one here was 8 or 9 years ago when we had one regular visitor for a year or two and then no more. Nice to have her back, but maybe she is just passing through--we have them year-round in Caledon, but not so sure this far north. The red-headed woodpecker family is nowhere in evidence now.
