MEN SHOULD KEEP THEIR WORD,
After a few moments of walking around the borders edges, it was clear that the male was not alone. Mabbit’s darkly colored form became clear, and he approached the alpha. Even though Abendrot was not a pack that was always in each other’s business and always spending time together didn’t mean that packmates could not catch up and chat and get to know each other. Grey Wind felt that he knew some of the pack members very well, those that had been here for a while, but there were still some that he had not gotten to know. Yellow orbs met the crimson ones of the other male as Mabbit asked if he could join the large grey male on his walk. Even though Grey Wind was not always the most talkative varg, he had no issues with another joining him.
The other male gave him half a smile before Grey Wind turned back to continue on his trail. Mabbit followed him and then he asked if there was any new that he should know about. A soft chuckle escaped the other male as he spoke, "I've been better, but it's nothing that can’t be fixed without time itself." The alpha knew about that all too well. Sometimes there was nothing one could do about a situation but wait it out and get over whatever had happened. He was surprised though by Mabbit’s next words to him, "My King. I've been meaning to ask you if you've ever heard of a war that happened a few years ago. One that killed a whole clan off on ambush." The words caught his attention. Wars happened all over in different areas for different reasons. There was a war going on within Blossom right now at the borders of Cold Summer, but that was none of Abendrot’s business so they had easily stayed out of it. But war was not something that he was a stranger to, it was what changed his life and destroyed his family.
Grey Wind had been much younger then, barely old enough to understand what was going on. But he was the oldest of the family, other than his half-brother, and so his father had been teaching him all about the politics of pack life and what it would be like when he took over. Even though his family’s pack was one of the most well respected didn’t mean that they didn’t have enemies, everyone had enemies. And another pack had an alpha named Tywin who hated Grey Wind and his family. The two packs had never gotten along, but Grey Wind’s father wanted peace, he did not want a fight and avoided it at all costs. But it could not be avoided when Tywin’s pack came and started killing. He was not sure how many wolves died that night, but it had been far too many. While his father was fighting, and died doing so, his mother had told him he had to leave. It was clear that his pack was not going to win, and if he stayed he would have been slaughtered. But his mother insisted that their family had to live on, and he needed to leave and start a new line of wolves. That was the night that Grey Wind changed. Leaving his family had been the hardest thing he had ever done, but his mother was right. The rest of the night was black; he couldn’t remember what he had done or how he had survived. When he thought back on it he could barely remember his family. His mother and father were the two he remembered most. Summer had recently come back to the male when he ran into his second brother at another pack. That was a long time ago though when Kershov was still here, and he had not seen Summer since. He knew that his brother would have wanted the two to become close again, but Grey Wind was not the wolf he was when the two had grown up together.
The male had been quiet for a few moments, still walking but no longer taking in any of the sights or around him. He had been transported back to that night. With a shake of his head he transported himself back to the presence. Not looking at Mabbit, but actually avoiding the other male’s gaze. His past was not something that he talked about. It was one the barriers between him and Macaria. Where she wanted him to open up, he shut down. ”Wars happen all over all the time. It’s part of life.” His tone was cold and without emotion. He had never let himself feel grief or sorrow after losing his family. And he was not about to right now. ”But yes. I do know of a pack that was killed due to war years ago. But that is the past.”
OOC: So Grey Wind’s a butt, but if you want the next post if Mabbit doesn’t recognize who Grey Wind is then Grey Wind will recognize who Mabbit is if that works for you =)
