He glanced over at her, a half-smile tugging at his maw at her words. She had always been vain but it had never caused a conflict between them. Viserys knew that was simply how she was, how she operated. There was no sense in trying to change that- and, besides, she had a right to be vain. She was absolutely stunning. Every time he looked at her it was as if he could not look away, he was entirely enthralled by everything about her. The lost prince felt his face heat up beneath his fur. "You always look wonderful, Ankh. When I look at you I see something more like... a swan. Definitely not a porcupine." His voice was as dreamy and light-hearted as ever but there was a certain sort of apprehension or anxiety there, as if he was nervous about something.
His ears perked up and his eyes widened as Ankh brushed her shoulder against his. It felt like a bolt of lightning passed through him every time that they touched, and inside him, his insides seemed to flip. Viserys was having a hard time admitting to himself his true feelings about Ankh, he simply could not articulate them into words, he could not name the emotions or the feelings that he experienced when he was with her. It was the purest and most beautiful of any emotion he had ever experienced, it held no hate or resentment or sadness or any other negative feeling. It was simply good. And he knew very well what it was.
Viserys glanced over at her and his breath caught in his throat. He couldn't imagine life without her, and he could be content with what they were already but there was something more between them and they both knew it. It was hard for him to continue onwards without making himself known, but yet he did not want to make her uncomfortable or scare her off. But he would fight for her, and he would kill for her. He would go against the very thing that made him him and he would do it all just to protect her. Oh yes, he knew what it was, but he could not vocalize it. He knew, though, that he must.
"Ankh." Teal eyes met her own greenish-blue for a moment before looking away again, towards a tree where two turtle doves were feeding their young. "Do you see those birds? They love so purely and so openly, though they are not like us, not entirely. Perhaps they are better, in some ways." Viserys paused, and he forced himself to meet her gaze. "I want to... love you, like that." He swallowed. "I would give you all I have and I would do anything for you. I don't expect the same from you but I... I want to know what you feel towards me. If-If you... love me... too."
