The forest stands tall and lush here; ancient trees reach weather-twisted arms to the sky, fighting monster-like storm clouds back with their interlacing fingers. Shadow seems to lurk everywhere you look, but it spills calmly, coolly, inspiring a sense of stealthy calm or protection rather than unease. That is, if you've forgotten what kind of creature might be stalking just out of sight...Abendrot is a land cradled by the dark woods on all sides; in the center, some of the larger trees stay behind to reveal a small plateau - a citadel where this pack can gather and defend itself from invaders. There are, of course, softer sides to the land. Clearings here and there allow the sun to throw down its rays in incongruously resplendent gold showers. Ignore the lingering scents of blood spattered here and there along the borders: those do not concern you. The river on one edge of the territory is playful enough when it hasn't been gorged by violent rain. You can choose to note the ragged claw marks raked down tree trunks and the forest floor as friendly "Home Sweet Home" signs, if you wish.

All who treasure loyalty, order, victory, and the occasional indulgence of raw visceral pleasure are welcome, once they've been approved by the ever-watchful eyes of Abendrot's Alpha. But keep one thing in mind: no matter what your motive, this is not a fool's Paradise. This is the land of soldiers, assassins, and spies. This is ABENDROT.

Make up your mind quickly and prepare to prove your worth. You wouldn't want to add to those blood spatters, would you...?

Fear Makes People Do Terrible Things

_________________________________________________________________________

The skinny teen didn’t realize the danger he was in as he took a stroll through Abendrot’s trees. He had been hanging out by himself for the most part lately, but that didn’t bother him. Since his mother had died and he had been left alone he was used to his own company. Lupin was not a talkative and outgoing varg, but a more reserved one, comfortable with no company but his own. But it seemed that he would have company today as his paws padded through the soft dirt. His audettes perked up as he heard the approach of what sounded to be more than one lupine. His lanky form stopped, turning to see who it was that was approaching. Light green orbs recognized the forms of two siblings that had recently come to the pack. He had not quite figured out the unique lifestyle that these two had, but he sensed that there was something different about them. And he remembered at the last pack meeting that they had done something to Macaria to make her different. It was clear that she was different, stronger, and the brute wanted to know what their secret was.

Before Lupin could make a move to either approach or greet the identical male and female, he felt something move under him a bit. Something wasn’t right. He didn’t know what it was, but instinct was screaming at him to move, and to move now. As the brute had grown up alone without proper training he had learned to trust his instincts more than anything else, and so he quickly leaps away from where he was, green orbs growing wide as he saw the earth sink away. But Herchel was not as lucky as the younger male, and Lupin saw his form tumble into the abyss, an audible thud heard upon his landing. Sachael was lucky though, the hole stopping right before her paws. The male carefully walked to the edge of the sinkhole, peering over to see if he could see Herchel’s form, and whether or not he was alive. There were rocks that had fallen from the ground as well, surrounding the brute who fell. Lupin tried to carefully make his way to the injured brute, knowing that he would need help to get back out. His gaze turned to the female, assuming that she would want to help her brother.

”Herchel? Can you hear us? We’re coming.” He was not sure if the male was conscious, but he wanted to let him know that he had packmates on the way if he was. The young male stepped extra carefully now, knowing that one wrong step could cause the sinkhole to collapse even more, endangering Herchel, and himself, even more. Lupin could only hope that he would get lucky enough to ensure that he made it to the bottom safely, and that Herchel was doing alright.
