Thoughts on the World Series Posted on November 8, 2016 at 08:36:33 AM by Jeff "Laca" Conway
It was great to finally see the Cubs win the World Series after 108 years, but I do have 3 thoughts on this series:
1. Joe Madden continues to make the worst decisions.
He made so many bad calls in game 7, not to mention game 6 and a few others, you have to wonder how he is so successful. Pulling the starter out after 4 2/3 innings and huge lead? Bunting with two strikes? We have the curse of the Billy Goat, the black cat, Steve Bartman, and we almost had the curse of Joe Madden! This is nothing new to us that live here in Tampa Bay with Madden and his craziness.
2. Shame on those Indian "fans".
The Cleveland Indians now hold the longest streak of not winning the World Series that is approaching 70 years. Shame on those season ticket holders, perhaps 10-15,000 of them that sold their tickets to loyal Cubs fans on the secondary market like Stub Hub. To rack up a couple extra thousand bucks and pass up on history of watching YOUR team win it all? Jeez.
3. The games are too long and end too late.
Once again, baseball continues to do injustice to the people they need to be marketing to - kids. Games ending at 12:47am is ridiculous - rather your 12 years old or 72. Games lasting 4 1/2 hours- even games going 9 innings - is simply way too long and boring. Do something about it! But when 70 million people tuned in for at least 5 minutes of that game, greed will take over, I guess. Replies: There have been no replies.
