The white and black wolfess was like him, a fresh adult and only just barely able to survive on the skills she had learned from her childhood. Halcyon could see she was no threat to him as she clutched the dead rabbit in her mouth. Was that the same one that skittered away from him? He wasn’t sure. Calming himself allowed the fur on his nape to lower and a soft wag of his tail let her know he was not here to fight. There had been enough fighting already and he was tired, so tired. To show even further proof that he wanted to talk rather than battle, he lowered his eyes to avoid gazing at hers directly. There was no shame in being submissive, not tonight.
With the stars glittering above them and silence stretching between, the two wolves sized each other up for a moment longer before Halcyon offered a small smile. "Nice night for a hunt." It wasn’t much of a greeting, but at least it would break the ice. Gazing up at the bedazzled sky, his smiled widened at the thought of those who had passed gazing down on the pair now, blessing them with a successful hunt. Returning his attention to the girl, he tilted his head to the side.
"I have no intention of taking your kill, so you can rest easy. My name is Halcyon. What may I call you, my lady?" Ever formal and gentlemanly, the son of Iblis carried on his father’s legacy in his mannerisms. Perhaps he was not a knight, but he was just and caring like his ancestors of old. "I was thinking tonight was a night to be alone, but I find myself wanting company. If you don’t mind, perhaps we can share this night together as comrades rather than foes." He was lonely and the thought of meeting someone new on a night like this made him feel less so. Waiting for her reply, he sat on his haunches and watched her carefully. He was fairly sure she wasn’t going to attack, but one could never be too careful when it came to unknown loners.
