The forest stands tall and lush here; ancient trees reach weather-twisted arms to the sky, fighting monster-like storm clouds back with their interlacing fingers. Shadow seems to lurk everywhere you look, but it spills calmly, coolly, inspiring a sense of stealthy calm or protection rather than unease. That is, if you've forgotten what kind of creature might be stalking just out of sight...Abendrot is a land cradled by the dark woods on all sides; in the center, some of the larger trees stay behind to reveal a small plateau - a citadel where this pack can gather and defend itself from invaders. There are, of course, softer sides to the land. Clearings here and there allow the sun to throw down its rays in incongruously resplendent gold showers. Ignore the lingering scents of blood spattered here and there along the borders: those do not concern you. The river on one edge of the territory is playful enough when it hasn't been gorged by violent rain. You can choose to note the ragged claw marks raked down tree trunks and the forest floor as friendly "Home Sweet Home" signs, if you wish.

All who treasure loyalty, order, victory, and the occasional indulgence of raw visceral pleasure are welcome, once they've been approved by the ever-watchful eyes of Abendrot's Alpha. But keep one thing in mind: no matter what your motive, this is not a fool's Paradise. This is the land of soldiers, assassins, and spies. This is ABENDROT.

Make up your mind quickly and prepare to prove your worth. You wouldn't want to add to those blood spatters, would you...?

MEN SHOULD KEEP THEIR WORD,

The male overcame the shock of Marx returning, something he did not think would happen without Kershov’s return. But he could sit there dumbstruck and look like a fool. He was diplomatic, as he had been trained by his father many years ago, and didn’t let the emotion of shock cross his features. When the other male called from the borders, Grey Wind thought that there was a chance he would want to challenge for the position of alpha. He had been Kershov’s beta for a long time before his disappearance, and Grey Wind could tell that the two males were close. But instead of Marx taking over the leadership position, he had done it himself. He would not blame Marx if he felt that the position should go to him, but that did not mean that Grey Wind would give in and give it to him. He had claimed the position, and would fight to keep it. He had promised Abendrot that he would keep the pack the way it had always been, a place for those with certain personalities that did not fit into other packs. He had found his home here when he knew most other packs would have turned him away, and he would never forget that. Abendrot had been home for a long time now, and he did not foresee it leaving his life anywhere in the near future.

What the male did not see was the pair being joined by another. A female burst in on their meeting, but really it had not been a private one. Being at the borders was a place that any varg, whether in Abendrot or not, was welcome to. Not only had this female interrupted them, but she had crossed into Abendrot’s territory without permission, something that Grey Wind didn’t appreciate in the slightest. But she was not entirely alone. The darkly pelted femme had the corpse of a coyote dragging along with her. She seemed distraught, and not happy that Grey Wind was the newest alpha of Abendrot. "New... Alpha? But... Kershov has to be here. He needs to give me back Danger." Grey Wind recognized the female as his niece, Lady’s daughter, Nzingha. Last he knew, Summer had taken over guardianship of her and they lived in Munashii Gekko. Grey Wind didn’t know who Danger was, but apparently he was someone important to her. If she wasn’t family, he would be more upset by her trespassing, but family was family after all. And with his recent meeting with Daenerys, who brought out ghosts from his past, he knew that she was safer here than she would be in Munashii Gekko.

Grey Wind’s yellow gaze flicked to Marx, who had remained silent throughout her outburst, and he turned his attention to his niece. ”Nzingha, what are you doing here? Kershov hasn’t been here for a while, did Summer not tell you? And who is Danger?” He then turned back to the other brute, not wanting to ignore him or push him away when he had just returned. ”Marx, this is my niece, Nzingha. Nzingha, Marx, one of Abendrot’s soldiers.” He then waited for the female to explain her presence and what it was that she needed.
