Northern Leg: Gastonia NC to Mt Holly NC. Former Piedmont & Northern,...merged with SCL in the late 60s. SCL became part of CSX Transportation in the late 80s. CSX abandoned this route around 1990. NS P 43 serviced the line for awhile but when a couple of the remaining few customers pulled out,...so did NS. The line lay dormant for years until around 2010,..Local GOVT officials worked out an agreement with Patriot Rail to run and promote the line. This arrangement lasted until 2014 when Patriot couldn't develop the line as expected. Patriot pulled out of the Project and Iowa Pacific signed up to replace Patriot with running the line. Iowa Pacific runs a local 2 maybe 3 times a week.
Southern Leg: The segment between Belton and Greenwood has been pulled. CSX runs the Belton Sub from Spartanburg to Pelzer. Greenville & Western runs a short segment from Pelzer to Belton. Replies: There have been no replies.
